Diamond Systems DMM-16R-AT PC/104 16-Bit Analog I/O Module with Autocalibration

The DMM-16R-AT is Diamond Systems' 16-channel PC/104 analog I/O board with 16-bit inputs at up to 100 kHz, four 12-bit outputs, 16 digital I/O lines and multi-range autocalibration. A drop-in replacement for the DMM-16-AT, it suits PC/104 systems that need mid-range analog I/O on the ISA bus.

  • Drop-In for DMM-16-AT: Mechanical design, connector, pinout and software interface match the original DMM-16-AT, so existing designs move across without engineering changes.
  • 16 Inputs at 100 kHz: 16 single-ended or eight differential 16-bit inputs, gains of 1, 2, 4 and 8, and a 512-sample FIFO.
  • Multi-Range Autocalibration: On-board precision references calibrate each input range individually, and the outputs feed back into the same calibration circuit.
  • 4x 12-Bit Analog Outputs: Four 12-bit outputs with fixed ±5 V and 0-5 V ranges, or any range up to 10 V programmed in 1 mV steps.
  • 3.3 V or 5 V Digital I/O: 16 digital lines in two 8-bit ports with jumper-selectable logic levels and pull resistors, plus 32-bit and 16-bit counter/timers.

DMM-16R-AT Overview

PC/104 systems built on the original DMM-16-AT need a replacement that does not force a redesign. The DMM-16R-AT is Diamond Systems’ 16-channel PC/104 analog I/O board, with the same mechanical design, connector, pinout and software interface as the DMM-16-AT, plus enhanced digital I/O. It also stands on its own as a mid-range analog board for new PC/104 designs on the ISA bus.

The inputs are 16-bit, configurable as 16 single-ended or eight differential, with programmable gains of 1, 2, 4 and 8 and unipolar or bipolar operation for seven ranges from ±10 V to ±0.625 V. Sampling reaches 100 kHz in total, in single-channel or multi-channel scan mode, triggered by software, the on-board timer or an external signal. A 512-sample FIFO with a 256-sample interrupt threshold cuts the interrupt load, and multi-range autocalibration uses on-board precision references to calibrate each range individually.

Four 12-bit analog outputs offer fixed ±5 V and 0-5 V ranges or a programmable range anywhere up to 10 V in 1 mV steps, with individual or simultaneous update. Digital I/O provides 16 lines in two 8-bit ports, set as eight in and eight out, 16 out or 16 in, with jumper-selectable 3.3 V or 5 V logic and 10 kΩ pull resistors, plus a 32-bit counter/timer for A/D timing and a 16-bit general counter. The DMM-16RP-AT adds a PC/104-Plus PCI connector, and the DMM-32X-AT doubles the input count.

The DMM-16R-AT runs from +5 V at 390 mA typical on the 5 V ISA bus and is tested and guaranteed from -40 to +85 °C, with ±35 V input protection. The Universal Driver supports Windows and Linux, and Diamond’s Control Panel program gives a graphical interface for prototyping and diagnostics.
