MILBOX-ORNX-NX16 Overview
Multi-camera drones and autonomous ground vehicles need the most AI memory they can carry without moving to a larger enclosure. The MILBOX-ORNX-NX16 is the top rugged military computer in the Forecr MILBOX-ORNX series, built on the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 16GB module inside the same compact, sealed 1.9 kg enclosure as its siblings.
The Jetson Orin NX 16GB carries 16GB of LPDDR5 memory, the most in the range, and with Super Mode it delivers the series rating of up to 157 TOPS. That suits multi-model perception, sensor fusion and analytics across several cameras at once. The MILBOX-ORNX-NX16 supports Ubuntu 20.04 or 22.04 with JetPack 5.x or 6.x.
On the MILBOX-ORNX-NX16, I/O covers two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB 3.0 ports, two RS-232/422/485 ports, an RS-232 debug port, two CAN bus ports and one HDMI output. M.2 Key-M 2280 and 2230 sockets take NVMe storage, and an M.2 Key-B socket with a SIM slot accepts LTE or 5G modules, convertible to Key-E for WiFi and Bluetooth. A camera expansion connector links the module’s CSI interfaces to an adapter board, and four HD-BNC coax connectors on the rear take Forecr’s optional 4x GMSL2 camera inputs. Power comes from a 9-40 VDC input with 28 VDC nominal and a military-grade filter stage.
Forecr aimed this rugged military computer at surveillance drones, autonomous UAVs and aircraft payloads. The 180.5 x 131 x 111 mm enclosure is designed to meet MIL-STD-461G, MIL-STD-1275E, MIL-STD-704F, DO-160G and IP67, with a datasheet ambient range of -25°C to +85°C. Where a program needs less memory on the same carrier, the MILBOX-ORNX-NX8 carries the Orin NX 8GB.
