Neousys FLYC-300 NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX Lightweight Drone Companion Computers

The Neousys FLYC-300 series is a family of drone companion computers built on the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX, quoted at up to 100 TOPS. Two GMSL2 camera inputs, GbE and 2.5GbE, two USB 3.2 ports, UART and CAN to the flight controller and a 12 V to 60 V DC input for 4S to 14S battery packs come in a 297 g board-level build. The FLYC-300 series suits UAV, UGV, drone imagery and infrastructure monitoring deployments.

  • NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX Module: Orin NX system-on-module with Ampere GPU and Arm Cortex CPU, quoted at up to 100 TOPS for detection, tracking and navigation models on board.
  • Dual GMSL2 Camera Inputs: FAKRA Z connectors take HDR or 3D cameras at 2x 1920 x 1080 at 60 FPS or 2x 2880 x 1860 at 30 FPS.
  • Flight Controller Interfaces: UART, CAN 2.0, I2C and Ethernet link to the flight controller, with isolated 2x DI and 4x DO for payload signaling.
  • 4S to 14S Battery Input: An XT-30 connector accepts 12 V to 60 V DC, so the computer runs directly from 4S to 14S drone battery packs.
  • Low-SWaP Build with MIL-STD-810H: A 124 x 123 mm footprint at 297 g board-level or 345 g enclosed, tested to MIL-STD-810H operating vibration and shock.

FLYC-300 Description

An autonomous drone needs its AI on board, beside the cameras and the flight controller, and every gram it carries counts against the flight. The Neousys FLYC-300 series is built for that brief: drone companion computers on the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX, designed to work alongside the flight controller that stabilizes and steers the aircraft while the companion computer handles perception, navigation and data. The board-level build weighs 297 g.

Every FLYC-300 uses a Jetson Orin NX system-on-module with an NVIDIA Ampere GPU, Arm Cortex CPU cores and LPDDR5 memory at 3200 MHz, and Neousys quotes up to 100 TOPS for the series. Two GMSL2 FAKRA Z connectors take HDR or 3D cameras at two streams of 1920 x 1080 at 60 FPS or 2880 x 1860 at 30 FPS, while one GbE and one 2.5GbE port and one USB 3.2 Gen 2 and one USB 3.2 Gen 1 port carry RGB, infrared or hyperspectral cameras, LiDAR and radar. Internal UART, CAN 2.0, I2C, USB 2.0 and isolated 2x DI and 4x DO connect the flight controller and payload, alongside a DisplayPort connector. Storage is an M.2 2230 M key NVMe socket on PCIe Gen4 x4 plus a micro SD slot, and an M.2 B key socket with an internal micro SIM takes a 4G or 5G module for live video and data links.

The range divides on memory and on housing. The FLYC-300-JON16 is the board-level build with an Orin NX 16GB module, mounted on its heat spreader at 297 g and 124 x 123 x 29.8 mm for airframes that already shelter the electronics. The FLYC-300-JON8 is the same board-level build with an Orin NX 8GB module. The FLYC-300-EC-JON16 puts the same 16GB module inside an enclosure at 345 g and 30.5 mm high, with three antenna holes. The FLYC-300-EC-JON8 keeps that enclosure and its antenna holes with an Orin NX 8GB module, for perception workloads that fit in 8 GB.

Power arrives through an XT-30 connector accepting 12 V to 60 V DC, so these drone companion computers run straight from 4S to 14S battery packs. Operation runs from -25 °C to 40 °C without heat spreader attachment, to 60 °C with the heat spreader secured to an aluminum surface, and to 70 °C on that conduction mount with 4S to 6S packs; sub-zero use needs a wide temperature SSD, and an optional 65 x 65 mm fan is available. Vibration and shock are tested in operation to MIL-STD-810H Method 514.8 and Method 516.8, with EN 62368-1 safety and CE and FCC Class A EMC. Autonomous navigation, obstacle avoidance, object detection and tracking, drone imagery collection and infrastructure monitoring are the target applications for the FLYC-300 series.

Official Neousys USA Distributor

Things Embedded is an official Neousys USA distributor, and the Neousys range spans several NVIDIA Jetson families beside the FLYC-300. The NRU-150-FT uses the same Jetson Orin NX in a flattop fanless edge AI computer, the NRU-160-FT is a robotics computer on Orin NX or Orin Nano, and the NRU-170-PPC builds Orin NX or Orin Nano into a 10.1 inch IP66 edge AI panel PC.

Across our categories, the FLYC-300 series sits among our Jetson computers with CAN bus through its flight controller interface, and its conduction-cooled rating to 70 °C places it with our wide-temperature computers. Where on-board inference has to fit a drone's weight budget, the board-level and enclosed builds cover airframes with and without their own protection.
