Neousys IGT-20 TI Sitara AM3352 Arm Industrial IoT Gateways with Isolated DIO

Collecting data from sensors, switches and serial devices on a machine or in a cabinet rarely needs a PC. It needs a small, low-power unit that boots a known Linux image, reads its inputs, drives a few outputs and sends the data on over Ethernet or a cellular link. The Neousys IGT-20 series is a range of industrial IoT gateways built for that job: 41 x 77 x 104 mm on a DIN rail, with field connections on terminal blocks.

Each gateway runs a Texas Instruments Sitara AM3352, a single Arm Cortex-A8 core at 1 GHz, with 1 GB of DDR3L memory and Debian pre-installed. Storage is two microSDHC slots, one external and one internal, so the system image and user data can sit on separate cards and units can be duplicated quickly for a rollout. A full-size mini PCIe socket (USB signal only) with an external SIM socket takes a 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi module, with an antenna opening in the top of the case. Six user-programmable LEDs and two user buttons cover status and local control, and Neousys lists the IGT-20 series as Microsoft Azure and AWS Greengrass certified for IoT.

There are three versions. The IGT-20 has four isolated digital inputs, four isolated digital outputs and two software-configurable RS-232/422/485 ports, with Debian 8. The IGT-21 adds an isolated CAN 2.0 A/B port for machine buses, also with Debian 8. The IGT-22 doubles the digital I/O to eight isolated inputs and eight isolated outputs, uses one RS-232 and one RS-485 port, adds a real-time clock and ships with Debian 9.

Every version has a 10/100 Ethernet port, a USB 2.0 port and a three-wire RS-232 console port. The isolated digital inputs and outputs are rated at 2500 Vrms, with the outputs switching up to 24 V DC at 100 mA. Power is 8 to 25 V DC, and the IGT-20 series runs from -25 °C to 70 °C (a wide temperature microSD card is needed below 0 °C), is rated for 5 Grms vibration and 50 Grms shock, and carries CE and FCC Class A compliance to EN 55032. These industrial IoT gateways suit Industry 4.0 retrofits, cabinet and pump station monitoring, and serial instrument links where a modem is the only network.
