Nexcom EBC 358-6413E 3.5″ SBC with Intel Atom x6413E, Triple Display and 12 or 24 V DC Input

A telematics unit or 5G edge gateway needs a small board that takes a cellular module and SIM, runs from the supply on hand and still drives a local display. The EBC 358-6413E is the quad-core Intel Atom x6413E build in the Nexcom EBC 358 series: a 3.5 inch SBC on Elkhart Lake with 12 or 24 V DC input.

The Intel Atom x6413E is a quad-core Elkhart Lake processor at 1.5 GHz base with bursts up to 3.0 GHz and a 9 W TDP, which suits gateway, telematics and HMI software. One DDR4-3200 non-ECC SO-DIMM socket takes up to 32 GB. For displays, VGA runs at up to 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz, HDMI 1.4b at up to 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz and a dual-channel 18/24-bit LVDS interface at up to 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz, so one board can drive a panel and two monitors at once.

I/O covers two Gigabit Ethernet ports on Intel I210-IT controllers, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 and four USB 2.0 ports, three RS-232 ports and one RS-232/422/485 port, 8-bit digital I/O, a watchdog timer, onboard TPM 2.0 and HD audio with line-out, speaker-out and mic-in. A full-size mini-PCIe slot and an M.2 3042 Key B socket each have a nano-SIM slot, and storage is one SATA 3.0 port with a SATA power connector. The EBC 358 carries the quad-core Atom x6425E at 12 W, and the EBC 358-6211E the dual-core Atom x6211E at 6 W.

Power is 12 V or 24 V DC only on a 4-pin (2 x 2) ATX connector, with AT and ATX modes. The EBC 358-6413E operates from 0 to 60 °C at board level, stores from -40 to 85 °C and handles 10 to 95% operating humidity, non-condensing. The board measures 146 x 105 mm, with an optional cooler kit and heat spreader kit for the enclosure design. It meets CE and FCC Class A.
