Stereolabs ZED-BOX-MINI-NX8 NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 8GB Embedded Box PC with 2x GMSL2 Cameras, 70 TOPS and 4K HDMI 2.1

Many vision deployments need to keep the video as well as act on it: a security robot recording its patrol, or a smart camera streaming to a control room. The Stereolabs ZED-BOX-MINI-NX8 is the step into Orin NX within the ZED-BOX-MINI series, an embedded box PC on the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 8GB with two GMSL2 camera inputs and hardware video encode.

The Orin NX 8GB module is rated at 70 TOPS, with power modes of 10 W, 15 W, 20 W and 40 W; 40 W is the MAXN SUPER mode and needs the fan kit. Stereolabs quotes single stereo depth at 30 fps with 28% GPU load and dual stereo depth with 55%. Unlike the ZED-BOX-MINI-NANO8, the ZED-BOX-MINI-NX8 encodes H.265 in hardware: one 4K stream at 60 fps, three at 30 fps or 12 at 1080p30. Decode reaches one 8K stream at 30 fps.

The two GMSL2 FAKRA-Z inputs suit a pair of ZED-X-WIDE stereo cameras or ZED-X-ONE-GS-WIDE global shutter cameras, with frame-sync trigger in and out for aligning capture across units. HDMI 2.1 drives a display at up to 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz, alongside one Gigabit Ethernet port, one USB 3.0 Type-A and a Micro-USB port for flashing and debug. A 256 GB NVMe SSD sits on M.2 Key-M 2242, and the M.2 Key-E 2230 socket holds the optional Wi-Fi 6 module: order ZBX-440010 without it or ZBX-440110 with it. A 10-pin header gives a 3.3 V UART, CAN controller signals for use with an external transceiver and two GPIO lines.

Power is 12 V DC with a 10.5 V to 13.5 V window on a screw terminal block. The anodised aluminum case runs from -20 °C to 50 °C and carries CE and FCC marks, with an integrated plate for wall or frame mounting. We supply it tested with JetPack 6.2 and the ZED SDK, configured for your cameras, GMSL2 cables and optional Wi-Fi, with the fan kit fitted if you plan to run MAXN SUPER mode.
