Stereolabs ZED-X-MINI-NARROW-POL (ZED-312220) IP67 Global Shutter 3D Depth Camera with Narrow 4.6 mm Lenses, Polarizer and Up to 12 m Depth

Small robots that work outside, from agricultural robots to logistics delivery units and outdoor inspection crawlers, need to see a few meters ahead in sunlight without a long camera bar. The Stereolabs ZED-X-MINI-NARROW-POL is the mid-range outdoor build of the ZED-X-MINI series, combining 4.6 mm lenses on a 5 cm baseline with a built-in polarizer.

Stereolabs states the polarizer minimizes glare and reflections and enhances color depth, which helps stereo matching on wet grass, paving and glass. The narrow f/2.0 lenses cover 73° horizontally and 87° diagonally, with depth from 0.15 m to 12 m, ideal to 6 m, and accuracy within 1.0% at 2 m. The ZED SDK tracks bodies to 12 m, so a robot can spot pedestrians in time to slow down. Global-shutter 1/2.6″ 2.3MP sensors output 1920 x 1200 at 60 fps or 960 x 600 at 120 fps, and a 200 Hz IMU supports positional tracking.

A lockable FAKRA Z connector carries GMSL2 video and power over coax up to 15 m at a typical 1.46 W. Hosts are NVIDIA Jetson Orin and Xavier modules running Jetson Linux, and a ZED-LINK-DUO card links up to four cameras to a Jetson Orin with hardware sync within 100 µs. The ZED-X-MINI-NARROW is the same camera without the polarizer; the ZED-X-NARROW-POL keeps the polarizer on a 12 cm baseline for depth to 35 m.

The ZED-X-MINI-NARROW-POL has an IP67-rated aluminum body that runs from -20 °C to 60 °C at up to 90% humidity at 40 °C, rated for 2g RMS vibration from 3 to 500 Hz. A 1/4″-20 thread, 2x M3 holes and 4x M4 rear holes suit small chassis and the optional tiltable mount. We supply it tested on a Jetson Orin host with JetPack, the ZED SDK and the GMSL2 capture path configured, with optional FAKRA cables to suit the build.
