Vecow AE-1004 Microchip LAN7431 4-Port 1000BASE-T1 MATEnet PCIe Expansion Card with Extended Temperature

The AE-1004 is Vecow's four-port 1000BASE-T1 PCIe expansion card: four Microchip LAN7431 controllers with LAN8870 PHYs behind MATEnet connectors, IEEE 802.3bp compliant on PCI Express x4 and rated -40 °C to 70 °C with airflow. It suits Linux test and logging systems that connect to 1000BASE-T1 networks.

  • Four 1000BASE-T1 Ports: Four ports run at 1000 Mbps to IEEE 802.3bp, each with its own Microchip LAN7431 controller and Microchip LAN8870 PHY.
  • MATEnet Connectors: Four MATEnet A-code connectors sit on the full-height bracket, and Vecow offers H-MTD connectors by request.
  • PCI Express x4 Interface: A PCI Express x4 link carries the four 1000BASE-T1 streams to the host, with three status LEDs per port.
  • -40 °C to 70 °C with Airflow: Rated from -40 °C to 70 °C with airflow across the card, and from -40 °C to 85 °C in storage.
  • Linux Support: Vecow lists Linux as the supported operating system, with CE and FCC under EMC and the RoHS mark.

AE-1004 Overview

Single-pair Ethernet devices running 1000BASE-T1 do not plug into the RJ45 ports of an industrial computer, so the host needs a card with the same physical layer and the matching connector. The AE-1004 is Vecow’s four-port 1000BASE-T1 PCIe expansion card, a standalone model compliant with IEEE 802.3bp. We supply it configured and tested, with the card fitted in the host computer and the Linux drivers installed.

Each of the four ports has its own Microchip LAN7431 controller paired with a Microchip LAN8870 PHY, and every link runs at 1000 Mbps. The host interface is PCI Express x4. Three LEDs per port show link, speed and master status, so the role of each single-pair link can be checked at the bracket during commissioning.

The ports use MATEnet connectors (A-code) on a full-height bracket, and Vecow offers H-MTD connectors by request where the harness uses that family. The AE-1004 carries data only and lists no Power over Ethernet output. For cameras on RJ45, the PE-2004 supplies 802.3at PoE+ on four Gigabit ports, and the PE-9004 moves to four 10GbE PoE+ ports with the same -40 °C to 70 °C rating.

Vecow rates the AE-1004 from -40 °C to 70 °C with airflow, so the host should move air across the slot, and from -40 °C to 85 °C in storage, with humidity from 5% to 95% non-condensing. It takes a full-height slot in the host. Vecow lists Linux support, and the datasheet shows CE and FCC under EMC with the RoHS mark, which suits test rigs and data loggers that live outside a heated room.
