Vecow ICS-1110S Intel Xeon D Edge Storage Servers with 10 U.2 Bays, VROC RAID and 10G SFP+

Cameras, lidar and inspection systems produce data faster than many sites can send it upstream, so more of it is now stored, protected and sorted where it is captured. That calls for a storage server that runs on DC power, takes front-swappable NVMe drives and can be managed remotely. The Vecow ICS-1110S series is a pair of edge storage servers built around exactly that, on Intel Xeon D processors with 10G networking, so recorded data can be held, protected and moved on when the link allows.

Both models have ten front-access U.2 trays on PCIe x4, with M.2 drives supported through an optional accessory. Intel VROC provides RAID 0, 1 and 10 on the optional Standard key, with RAID 5 added by the optional upper key, and two further 2.5″ trays on SATA III support software RAID 0 and 1. Eight DDR4 2933 DIMM sockets take up to 512 GB, Intel QAT offloads compression and encryption, and networking is four GbE ports and two 10G SFP+ ports, which Vecow supports under Windows Server. A dedicated out-of-band port powered by Allxon allows remote power on, off, reset and cycle.

The two models differ only in processor. The ICS-1110S-2876NT runs the 16-core, 32-thread Xeon D-2876NT at 100 W TDP, which suits heavier file services, encryption and analytics beside the storage. The ICS-1110S-2752TER runs the 12-core, 24-thread Xeon D-2752TER at 77 W TDP for systems where storage throughput matters more than compute. Both share the same storage layout, I/O and power input, so the choice comes down to the processing you plan to run beside the drives, from simple archiving to encryption, indexing and analytics on site.

Each ICS-1110S edge storage server runs from 16 to 50 V DC with 16-mode software ignition control and a remote switch, and operates from 0 °C to 60 °C with fan cooling. I/O adds four COM ports, four USB, 16 isolated DIO, VGA, a PCIe x16 slot with PCIe 4.0 x2 signal and M.2 sockets for optional 5G, 4G or Wi-Fi. Vecow lists Windows Server and Linux, vibration and shock to MIL-STD-810G, CE, FCC and ICES, and EMC to EN 50155 and EN 50121-3-2 requirements.
