Vecow PE-5004 Intel XL710 4-Port 10GbE PoE+ PCI Express Expansion Card

Four high-resolution cameras on one inspection line or pitch-side rig can each fill a Gigabit link, and each needs power at the far end of its cable. The PE-5004 is Vecow’s four-port 10GbE PoE+ card, a standalone model that puts four powered 10GBASE-T ports in one slot. We fit it to systems we build where four fast cameras feed one computer for deep learning or measurement.

The four independent RJ45 ports are driven by an Intel XL710 controller with an Intel X557 PHY, running at 10 Gbps, 1 Gbps or 100 Mbps. The host interface is PCI Express x8 at PCIe 3.0, up to 8.0 GT/s, so the host slot must be x8 in length. The controller supports jumbo frames up to 9.7KB, link aggregation, 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet and DMA coalescing.

Every port complies with IEEE 802.3at and supplies up to 25.5 W at 48 V DC, with PoE+ on/off control and four PoE LEDs. IEEE 1588 PTP and 802.1AS keep the four streams aligned. The PE-5002 is the two-port 10GBASE-T version on PCIe x4, and the PE-8004MX carries four 10GbE PoE+ ports on M12.

PoE power comes from one 4-pin 12 V connector. The card carries a heat sink, and Vecow rates it from -25 to 55 °C with air flow, so the host needs fans or forced air across the slot. Storage is -40 to 85 °C. The board measures 168 x 111 mm with a full-height bracket, and Vecow lists CE and FCC, with Windows 11, Windows 10 and Linux support. Vecow names goal-line technology, deep learning, real-time inspection and scientific research as applications.
