HDMI to SDI Overview
HDMI cables are short and do not lock, so getting a camera, laptop or player into an SDI router or vision mixer across a room or venue usually means converting to SDI at the source. The Yuan HDMI to SDI is a straightforward HDMI to SDI converter with two SDI outputs, which suits live events, broadcast and pro AV.
Input is one HDMI connection accepting 1920x1080p at 60/50 and 30/25/24 fps, 1080i, 720p, 480i and 576i. Outputs are two SDI connections in the input format, covering 3G, HD and SD-SDI. Yuan lists high-quality digital direct conversion, auto source format detection and HDMI EDID learning. HDMI audio of two channels, 24-bit, up to 192 kHz is embedded into SDI at two channels, 48 kHz.
The HDMI to SDI is plug and play and runs from a 7.5 to 15 V DC input. If your source runs at PC resolutions or a different frame rate, the HDMI to SDI-S adds up/down scaling and an OSD menu. For external audio, the HDMI to SDI Audio Embedder adds L/R, AES-3 and S/PDIF input.
Yuan publishes no operating temperature or certification for this unit, so plan for indoor use.
