Yuan SC540N1 M2 HDV M.2 HDMI and DVI Video Capture Card with 1080p60 Input

The SC540N1 M2 HDV is Yuan's M.2 HDMI and DVI video capture card with HDMI, DVI-I and YPbPr inputs, accepting sources at up to 1920 x 1080p at 60 fps and capturing at up to 1080p at 30 fps on a 22 x 60 mm module. It suits compact PCs that record from DVI and component equipment as well as HDMI.

  • Inputs: HDMI, DVI-I and YPbPr inputs on one channel, so digital and analog component sources share one card.
  • Capture Rate: Accepts up to 1920 x 1080p at 60/50 fps and captures at up to 30/25 fps, which suits recording and monitoring.
  • Host Interface: M.2 2260 B+M key module running PCIe x1, sized for boards without room for a 2280 card.
  • Audio: HDMI embedded audio plus analog left and right through a wafer connector, so analog sources keep their sound.
  • Operating Systems: Windows 7 to 10, Linux 2.6.14 or higher, Linux ARM and NVIDIA Jetson modules, so one card covers x86 and Jetson builds.
Form Factor: M.2M.2

SC540N1 M2 HDV Overview

Imaging equipment and older industrial PCs often output DVI or component video, and the computer that records them may be a small embedded box with a single M.2 slot. The SC540N1 M2 HDV is Yuan’s M.2 HDMI and DVI video capture card for those sources, with HDMI, DVI-I and YPbPr inputs on a 22 x 60 mm module.

The card has a single channel that accepts sources at up to 1920 x 1080p at 60/50 fps and captures at up to 1920 x 1080p at 30/25 fps. Audio is taken from the HDMI embedded stream, with analog left and right through a wafer connector. Capture and preview formats are RGB24 and RGB32 at 4:4:4, YUY2 at 4:2:2, and YV12 and NV12 at 4:2:0, all 8-bit, so host software can take frames in the format it already uses. On-board processing covers cropping and scaling, automatic signal detection and deinterlacing. There is no hardware encoder, so any compression runs in software on the host.

The M.2 2260 module uses a B+M key and runs PCIe x1. Yuan supplies a Windows and Linux SDK for custom applications, and the card works with DirectShow and V4L2 software; Yuan’s compatibility list names vMix, OBS, Zoom, Skype, Teams, Discord, Slack, Cisco Webex and GoToMeeting. The SC400N1 M2 HDV keeps the same inputs and size but captures at the full 1080p60, and the SC540N1 M2 HDMI (B/M) is the HDMI-only card on a shorter 2242 module.

Yuan lists driver support for Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, Linux 2.6.14 or higher in 32-bit and 64-bit builds, Linux ARM, and NVIDIA Jetson TX2, Nano, AGX Xavier and Xavier NX modules. Yuan lists multi-instance and multi-device support for systems that run more than one capture session or card. The card measures 22 x 60 mm, so it suits host boards that provide a 2260 M.2 slot.

Official Yuan USA Distributor

Things Embedded is an official Yuan USA distributor, supplying the SC540N1 M2 HDV configured for USA medical and industrial imaging projects. Within the Yuan range the SC400N1 M2 HDV keeps the same inputs and size but captures at the full 1080p60, and the SC540N1 M2 HDMI (B/M) is the HDMI-only card on a 2242 module.

For mixed digital and analog sources the SC540N1 M2 HDV sits among our DVI capture cards and our M.2 capture cards. Where 30 fps capture of DVI or component equipment is enough, this is the model to specify. It uses the same Yuan Windows and Linux SDK and DirectShow and V4L2 support as the models above.
