PCI ExpressSC542N1-L HDAV Overview
Archive digitising, training rooms and inspection stations often still run older composite or S-Video equipment next to newer HDMI sources. The SC542N1-L HDAV is Yuan’s PCIe HDMI capture card for that mix, with HDMI, YPbPr, S-Video and composite inputs feeding one capture channel.
HDMI signals are captured at up to 1920 x 1200p and 1920 x 1080p at 60/50 fps, with 1080i, 720p and PC timings down to 640 x 480. YPbPr runs up to 1080p60/50, and composite and S-Video take 720 x 480i and 720 x 576i. Capture and preview formats cover RGB24 and RGB32 at 4:4:4, YUY2 at 4:2:2, and YV12 and NV12 at 4:2:0, all at 8-bit. Embedded audio is captured as stereo 16-bit at 32 to 48 kHz. On-board processing handles cropping and scaling, auto signal detection and deinterlacing. There is no built-in hardware encoder, so any encoding is left to the host software.
The card uses a PCIe x1 Gen2 link. Yuan provides a Windows and Linux SDK, supports DirectShow and V4L2 software, and lists vMix, OBS, Zoom, Skype, Teams, Discord, Slack, Cisco Webex and GoToMeeting as compatible applications. The SC542N1-L HDV swaps HDMI for DVI-I and adds a loop-through output, and the SC542N1 adds SDI and DVI-I inputs to the same mix.
Yuan supports Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, Linux 2.6.14 or later in 32-bit and 64-bit form, Linux on ARM, and the NVIDIA Jetson TX2, Nano, AGX Xavier and Xavier NX. The board measures 100 x 68.9 mm and carries 16 GPIO lines and a watchdog, useful in unattended recording systems. Yuan lists multi-device and multi-instance support, for hosts that run more than one card or capture session.
