Yuan SC5A0N1 M2 HDMI (B/M) M.2 HDMI Capture Card with 1080p60 Input

Small embedded computers that record or stream HDMI video often have little processor time left for encoding and only a short M.2 socket free. The SC5A0N1 M2 HDMI (B/M) is Yuan’s M.2 HDMI capture card with a built-in H.26X hardware encoder on a 22 x 42 mm card, so compression runs on the card.

The card has a single HDMI input, with PC modes from 640 x 480 upwards and more resolutions through the SDK. Sources arrive at up to 1920 x 1080p at 60/50 fps and the card delivers 1920 x 1080p at 30/25 fps to the host. Frames reach the host as 8-bit RGB24, RGB32, YUY2, YV12 or NV12, which lets display, analysis and encoding software pick the color format that suits it. Built-in cropping and scaling, a deinterlace engine and auto signal detection take routine work off the host. Audio is HDMI embedded, with analog left and right audio through a wafer connector, sampled as 16-bit stereo at 32 to 48 kHz.

It fits an M.2 Type B/M socket at 2242 length and runs over a PCIe x1 link. Yuan supplies Windows and Linux SDKs, and as a DirectShow and V4L2 device it works with vMix, OBS and conferencing tools such as Zoom, Teams and Webex. The SC5A0N1 M2 HDV adds DVI-I and YPbPr inputs on a 2260 card, and the SC5A0N1 M2 SDI is the SDI version with loop-through.

Operating system support covers Windows 7 to Windows 10, Linux from kernel 2.6.14 in 32-bit and 64-bit form, Linux on ARM and the NVIDIA Jetson TX2, Nano, AGX Xavier and Xavier NX modules. The board measures 22 x 42 mm and connects its HDMI input through a cable. Yuan also lists an A/E key version of this card, so check the host socket key when ordering.
