Yuan SC710N1 M2 HDMI2.0 M.2 HDMI Capture Card with HDMI 2.0 Input at 4K60

A compact edge computer or embedded recorder often has an M.2 socket free but no PCIe slot, and 4K HDMI capture has usually meant a full-size card. The SC710N1 M2 HDMI2.0 is Yuan’s M.2 HDMI capture card for HDMI 2.0, capturing 4096 x 2160 at 60/50 fps with HDR10 and HLG support. It is a good fit for compact 4K recording, streaming and display capture where the host is small.

HDMI 2.0 modes run from 4096 x 2160 and 3840 x 2160 at 60/50/30/25/24 fps through 2560 x 1440p at 144 fps and 1920 x 1080p at up to 240 fps, down to SD and PC modes such as 720 x 576i and 640 x 480, with more modes available through the SDK. HDR10 and HLG are supported, as is HDMI 1.4b 3D. Formats are RGB24 and RGB32 at 4:4:4 8-bit, YUY2 at 4:2:2 8-bit, YV12 and NV12 at 4:2:0 8-bit, and P010 at 4:2:0 10-bit, so HDR sources can be captured at 10-bit. Audio arrives as one embedded HDMI stereo stream, 16-bit at 32 to 48 kHz.

The card is an M.2 Type M module of 22 x 80 mm on a PCIe x4 link, with the HDMI connector brought out on a cabled adapter. On-board processing covers cropping and scaling, automatic signal detection and deinterlacing. There is no built-in hardware encoder, so compression runs on the host or a GPU. Yuan’s Windows and Linux SDK supports multiple instances and multiple cards, and DirectShow and V4L2 support opens it to vMix, OBS, Zoom and Teams as well as custom software. The SC710N1 M2 HDMI2.0 with Loop adds an HDMI 2.0 loop-through output, and the SC710N1-L HDMI2.0 is the low profile PCIe equivalent.

Yuan lists support for Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, Linux 4.8 or higher in 32-bit and 64-bit builds, Linux ARM and NVIDIA Jetson TX2, Nano, AGX Xavier and Xavier NX. The cabled HDMI adapter lets the connector sit where the enclosure needs it, which we plan as part of the system build.
