MIC-715-OX Overview
A camera recorder on a bus, refuse truck or patrol vehicle has to cope with spray, road dust and a vehicle electrical system, and every exposed RJ45 socket is a likely point of failure. The Advantech MIC-715-OX is a ruggedized IP67 in-vehicle PC that Advantech positions as an AI network video recorder, with its Ethernet, CAN and power connections on sealed M12 and M16 connectors and its USB and HDMI ports on waterproof connectors.
Compute is the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 16GB: an 8-core Arm Cortex-A78AE CPU, a 1024-core Ampere GPU with 32 Tensor Cores and 16 GB of LPDDR5, rated at up to 100 TOPS. The MIC-715-OX4A1 ships with JetPack 6.0 on a pre-installed 128 GB NVMe SSD, and Super mode is not supported on this model. The MIC-715-OX4A2 is the same build without SSD or software. The M.2 2280 M-key socket takes NVMe storage on PCIe x1 for recorded footage.
Networking is six Gigabit Ethernet ports on M12 X-coded eight-pin connectors, four of them IEEE 802.3af PoE so IP cameras take power and data from one cable. Alongside are two CAN bus ports on M12 A-coded connectors for vehicle data, two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI output at 3840 x 2160 and 60 Hz, and a micro USB OTG port. Two mini PCIe sockets and an M.2 3052 B-key socket, with two nano SIM slots, take optional Wi-Fi 6 and 5G modules, and Allxon remote monitoring and OTA updates are supported.
Power is 12 or 24 V DC on an M16 six-pin connector with ignition control, with the voltage set by an internal DIP switch. The MIC-715-OX operates from -20 °C to 60 °C with 0.7 m/s airflow, is rated for 3 Grms vibration and 10 G shock, and measures 275 x 220 x 80 mm at 4.5 kg for desktop installation. Certifications are CB, UL, CE, FCC and CCC. For cabinet-mounted cameras, the MIC-712P-OX adds six PoE ports in a slim fanless case, and the MIC-713-OX brings CAN FD and digital I/O.
