SKY-602E3 Overview
Not every AI project starts in a data centre. Plenty of inference, vision and model evaluation work happens in a lab, an engineering office or a small edge room with no rack and no raised floor. The Advantech SKY-602E3 is a mid-tower GPU server sized for that kind of space: 216 mm wide, 425 mm deep and 16 kg, with desktop feet, an optional wall-mount bracket and support for rack mounting.
It takes a single AMD EPYC Embedded 8004 processor on the LGA4844 socket, with Zen 4c cores up to 64 cores and 128 threads and a TDP of up to 225 W. The standard 1U heatsink handles processors up to 180 W at 40 °C, and a 2U cooler is available for higher-TDP parts with a reduced GPU count. Six DDR5-4800 ECC RDIMM slots take up to 576 GB, and an ASPEED AST2600 BMC provides IPMI remote management over a dedicated LAN port.
Expansion is six PCIe x16 slots: two with full x16 links and two pairs that share x16 lanes as x8 each. That gives four double-width, full-height 10.5-inch GPUs, or two double-width cards plus four single-width x8 cards for network or capture cards. Networking is two 10GbE ports on an Intel X710-AT2, with two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a COM port and VGA at the rear, two internal 2.5-inch SATA bays and two M.2 2280 slots for boot and cache drives.
Both ordering versions ship with a single 80 PLUS Platinum supply module (1+0) at 1200 W or 2000 W, and the 2000 W build supports two 600 W GPUs or four 350 W GPUs; Advantech’s startup manual lists the power cage as taking up to 1+1+1 redundant modules. Four 80 mm fans and a filtered front cover keep the SKY-602E3 within its 0 to 40 °C range. Where the GPU server is going into a rack with more GPUs, the SKY-620V3 and SKY-641E3 take the same class of workload in 2U and 4U.
