Arestech PPC-N157R-1A1 15″ 5-Wire Resistive Industrial Panel PC with Intel Core i5-7200U and Front IP66 Aluminum Bezel

Machine operators often wear gloves, and a capacitive screen that ignores a gloved finger slows the job down. The PPC-N157R-1A1 is the 5-wire resistive configuration on the Intel Core i5-7200U in the Arestech PPC-N157 series: a 15 inch fanless industrial panel PC with an aluminum front cover sealed to IP66.

The Intel Core i5-7200U is a dual-core processor running at up to 3.1 GHz, with two DDR4-2133 SO-DIMM sockets for up to 32 GB, plus an M.2 2280 socket and two internal 2.5-inch SATA bays with RAID 0 and 1. That suits SCADA clients, MES terminals and HMI software with several windows open, with operating system support for Windows 10 IoT. The display is a 300 nit 4:3 XGA LCD at 1024 x 768 with a 600:1 contrast ratio and 160° viewing angles horizontally and vertically. Resistive touch works by pressure, so it responds to work gloves and a stylus.

Connections include two GbE ports on Intel i219V and i211AT controllers, three RS-232 ports and one RS-232/422/485 port, four USB 3.0 ports, DisplayPort and HDMI 2.0a outputs up to 4K for a second screen, line-out and mic-in and 8-bit digital I/O. A full-size Mini-PCIe socket with a SIM slot and an M.2 2230 E-key socket for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth take optional 4G and wireless modules. The PPC-N157P-1A1 is the same build with projected capacitive touch, and the PPC-N157R-2A1 offers the same touch on the Intel Core i3-7100U.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on a two-pin Phoenix terminal block, at 14.7 W typical. The PPC-N157R-1A1 is fanless and operates from -20 °C to 60 °C at 5 to 95% humidity with extended-temperature memory and storage fitted. It is vibration-tested from 5 to 500 Hz at 2.16 Grms, carries CE and FCC Class A marks, measures 386 x 316 x 69 mm, weighs 4.2 kg and mounts in a 346 x 276 mm panel cut-out or on 75 x 75 and 100 x 100 mm VESA.
