Arestech SB-5516-1A2 Intel Core Ultra 9/7/5 Series 2 Fanless Embedded PC with Intel NPU and 16/16 Isolated DIO

When an inspection cell has to read a part-present sensor, run a model and fire a reject gate, routing those signals through a separate remote I/O module can add wiring and another device to support. The SB-5516-1A2 is the isolated DIO model in the Arestech SB-5516 series: a fanless embedded PC for Intel Core Ultra 200S processors with 16 isolated digital inputs and 16 isolated outputs on its own connector. The SB-5516-1A1 is the same build without the DIO.

Arestech lists three 35 W LGA1851 processors for this socket: the Core Ultra 9 285T, Ultra 7 265T and Ultra 5 245T. Each pairs its CPU cores with Intel graphics and an integrated NPU, which can take on inference so the cores stay free for control logic and logging. The Intel H810 chipset supports dual-channel DDR5 at 5600 or 6400 MHz across two SO-DIMM sockets, up to 128 GB, and TPM 2.0 is fitted on the board of the SB-5516-1A2.

Isolation on the digital channels helps keep field wiring faults and ground differences away from the computer, which matters when the I/O runs to valves, sensors and stack lights on the same machine. Alongside the DIO sit two GbE ports, HDMI 2.1 up to 7680 x 4320 and DisplayPort up to 4096 x 2160, four USB 3.2 ports, one RS-232 and one RS-232/422/485 port, a four-in, four-out GPIO header, line-out and mic-in. Storage is an M.2 2280 M-Key slot with PCIe Gen4 x4 or SATA plus two removable 2.5″ SATA SSD trays, and an M.2 E-Key slot takes optional Wi-Fi.

Power is 19 to 24 V DC on a two-pin terminal block with AT and ATX modes. The embedded PC runs fanless from -20 °C to 60 °C, is tested to 5 Grms vibration and 50 G shock under IEC 60068, carries CE and FCC Class A marks and wall mounts. We supply the SB-5516-1A2 configured, with Windows 11 or Linux installed, and tested, with the DIO wiring checked against your I/O list.
