Arestech SM-115R/VM-2100 15″ 5-Wire Resistive Sunlight Readable Monitor with 1,500 Nit LCD and Ignition Sensing

The SM-115R/VM-2100 is the 5-wire resistive build in the Arestech SM-115(P)(R)/VM-2100 series, putting a pressure-sensing touch screen over a 15 inch, 1,500 nit sunlight readable LCD. It suits rugged touch screen monitor installs in cabs, yards and plant rooms, where operators wear gloves or use a stylus.

  • Ignition-Sensing 9 to 48 V DC: Terminal-block input with ignition sensing, a PC/Car mode switch and over-voltage, reverse-voltage and 20 A over-current protection.
  • Shock and Vibration Rated: 20 Grms half-sine shock and 1.5 Grms vibration from 5 to 500 Hz on three axes, with fanless operation from -10 °C to 60 °C.
  • VGA, DVI and DisplayPort Inputs: Three video inputs plus USB 2.0, COM and audio on the VM-2100 module, behind a front IP65 die-cast 15″ bezel.

SM-115R/VM-2100 Overview

A touch screen that ignores a gloved finger is a problem on a forklift, a crane or a yard terminal, and so is a display that disappears in sunlight. The SM-115R/VM-2100 is the rugged touch screen monitor in the Arestech SM-115(P)(R)/VM-2100 series built for both: a 5-wire resistive touch screen over a 15 inch sunlight readable LCD at 1,500 nits, in a front IP65 aluminum die-cast bezel.

Resistive touch works by pressure, so it responds to work gloves, a stylus or a fingernail and suits operators who press deliberately rather than tap. The panel underneath is 4:3 XGA at 1024 x 768 with a 2500:1 contrast ratio and 176° viewing angles, so the SM-115R/VM-2100 stays legible through a cab window or from beside a machine.

Arestech’s VM-2100 video module on the rear takes VGA, DVI and DisplayPort, with USB 2.0 and COM ports, a line-in for two 2 W internal speakers, a remote power on/off terminal block and a remote OSD connector for adjusting the screen from a separate keypad. Where operators work bare-handed, the SM-115P/VM-2100 offers projected capacitive touch, and the SM-115/VM-2100 is the display-only build.

Power is 9 to 48 V DC on a three-pin terminal block, covering 12 V and 24 V vehicle systems, with ignition sensing and a PC/Car mode switch so the monitor can follow the key. Protection runs to 52 V over-voltage, -48 V reverse voltage and 20 A over-current. The SM-115R/VM-2100 is rated for 20 Grms shock and 1.5 Grms vibration from 5 to 500 Hz, runs fanless from -10 °C to 60 °C, and mounts in a panel, on a 100 x 100 mm VESA arm or on a wall.
