Arestech SM-115(P)(R)/VM-2100 15" 1,500 Nit Sunlight Readable Monitors with Front IP65 Bezel

A typical industrial display at 250 to 300 nits washes out as soon as sunlight lands on it, whether through a cab window, across a loading bay or on a machine panel beside an open roller door. The Arestech SM-115(P)(R)/VM-2100 series is built for those places: a family of 15 inch sunlight readable monitors with a 1,500 nit 4:3 XGA panel, a 2500:1 contrast ratio and 176° viewing angles in both axes, so the screen stays legible from where the operator actually stands rather than only straight on.

Each monitor is built in two parts. The SM-115 display module carries the LCD in an aluminum die-cast front frame with a flat surface, IP65 compliant at the front panel, and Arestech’s VM-2100 video module mounts on the rear with the connections: VGA, DVI and DisplayPort inputs, USB 2.0 and COM ports, a line-in feeding two 2 W internal speakers, a two-pin terminal block for remote power on/off and a remote OSD connector for a separate keypad. The 15″ monitor is fanless, measures 377 x 301 x 65.5 mm, weighs 4.85 kg and ships with a panel mount kit for a 370 x 294 mm cut-out, with 100 x 100 mm VESA holes and optional wall mounting for chassis installs.

The SM-115(P)(R)/VM-2100 series splits on touch. The SM-115/VM-2100 is the non-touch build, a sunlight readable LCD for camera views, dashboards and status screens that are read rather than pressed. The SM-115P/VM-2100 adds a projected capacitive touch screen for bare-finger operation of HMI and kiosk software, and the SM-115R/VM-2100 uses a 5-wire resistive touch screen that registers gloved fingers and a stylus.

Power comes in on a three-pin terminal block at 9 to 48 V DC, which covers 12 V and 24 V vehicle systems as well as cabinet supplies, and ignition sensing with a PC/Car mode switch lets the monitor follow a vehicle’s key. Protection covers over-voltage to 52 V, reverse voltage to -48 V and over-current to 20 A, and an optional 12 V, 60 W adapter handles mains-powered sites. The series operates from -10 °C to 60 °C at 10 to 80% humidity and is rated for 20 Grms shock and 1.5 Grms vibration from 5 to 500 Hz, which suits forklifts, port equipment, outdoor kiosks and machine panels in bright halls.
