Arestech SM-115P/VM-2100 15″ PCAP Sunlight Readable Touch Screen Monitor with 1,500 Nit XGA LCD and Front IP65

The SM-115P/VM-2100 is the projected capacitive build in the Arestech SM-115(P)(R)/VM-2100 series, putting a PCAP touch screen over a 15 inch, 1,500 nit sunlight readable LCD. It suits outdoor kiosks, cab terminals and machine HMIs where operators work the screen bare-handed in bright light.

  • VGA, DVI and DisplayPort Inputs: Three video inputs plus USB 2.0 and COM on the VM-2100 module, with an audio line-in and two 2 W speakers.
  • 9 to 48 V DC with Ignition Sensing: Terminal-block DC input with ignition sensing and a PC/Car mode switch, protected to 52 V over-voltage and -48 V reverse voltage.
  • Panel, VESA or Wall Mount: Fanless from -10 °C to 60 °C, with a panel mount kit for a 370 x 294 mm cut-out and 100 x 100 mm VESA holes.

SM-115P/VM-2100 Overview

Touch screens on outdoor kiosks, vehicle cabs and machines near open doors face two problems at once: glare that washes out the image, and operators who need to hit the right button first time. The SM-115P/VM-2100 is the projected capacitive configuration in the Arestech SM-115(P)(R)/VM-2100 series for that job, a sunlight readable touch screen that pairs PCAP touch with a 15 inch LCD at 1,500 nits.

The panel is 4:3 XGA at 1024 x 768 with a 2500:1 contrast ratio and 176° viewing angles in both axes, which keeps HMI graphics and kiosk menus legible in daylight and from beside the unit. PCAP touch responds to a light bare-finger press, so the SM-115P/VM-2100 suits software designed for tablet-style interaction. A remote OSD connector lets brightness and input be set from a separate keypad once the monitor is sealed into a panel.

Arestech’s VM-2100 video module on the rear takes VGA, DVI and DisplayPort, with USB 2.0 and COM ports, a line-in for two 2 W internal speakers and a terminal block for remote power on/off. For operators in heavy gloves, the SM-115R/VM-2100 uses a 5-wire resistive screen instead, and the SM-115/VM-2100 drops touch for display-only stations.

Power is 9 to 48 V DC on a three-pin terminal block with ignition sensing, so with the PC/Car switch set to Car mode the SM-115P/VM-2100 follows a vehicle’s ignition, and over-voltage, reverse-voltage and over-current protection guard it against a noisy supply. It runs fanless from -10 °C to 60 °C with 20 Grms shock and 1.5 Grms vibration ratings, and the front panel is IP65 compliant for panel, VESA or wall mounting.
