Arestech TPM-3217P 17″ PCAP Industrial Touch Monitor with 350 Nit SXGA LCD and IP54 Panel Mount

The TPM-3217P is the projected capacitive build in the Arestech TPM-3217 series, putting a 7 Mohs PCAP touch screen with 90% transparency on a 17 inch SXGA panel mount monitor rated IP54. It suits machine HMIs and self-service kiosks where operators touch bare-handed.

  • Projected Capacitive Touch: PCAP multi-touch screen with a 7 Mohs surface and 90% transparency, connected to the host over USB.
  • 17″ 350 Nit SXGA LCD: SXGA LCD at 1280 x 1024 with 1000:1 contrast for machine and kiosk software.
  • IP54 Panel Mount: IP54 rated monitor for a 392.8 x 318.9 mm cut-out, or 75 x 75 and 100 x 100 mm VESA mounting.
  • VGA Input: Single VGA input for controllers and industrial PCs with an analog video output.
  • 12 to 24 V DC: Two-pin Phoenix terminal block at 22 W typical, operating from -20 °C to 60 °C at up to 95% humidity.

TPM-3217P Overview

Kiosk users and machine operators expect a touch screen to respond like a phone, with a light tap rather than a firm press. The TPM-3217P is the projected capacitive configuration in the Arestech TPM-3217 series: a 17 inch industrial touch monitor with PCAP multi-touch, a 350 nit SXGA LCD and IP54 ingress protection for panel mounting.

The PCAP touch screen has a 7 Mohs surface hardness and 90% transparency and connects to the host over USB. Underneath is a SXGA LCD at 1280 x 1024 with a 1000:1 contrast ratio and 170° horizontal and 165° vertical viewing angles, which suits embedded HMI displays and kiosk software built for tap and swipe gestures.

The TPM-3217P takes a single VGA input, so it pairs with controllers, industrial PCs and kiosk computers that have an analog video output. Power is 12 to 24 V DC from a single source on a two-pin Phoenix terminal block, drawing 22 W typical. Where operators wear gloves, or the controller expects a serial touch interface, the TPM-3217R offers 5-wire resistive touch over USB or RS-232.

The TPM-3217P measures 411.4 x 337.5 x 41.6 mm, weighs 4.82 kg and fits a 392.8 x 318.9 mm panel cut-out, with 75 x 75 and 100 x 100 mm VESA holes as an alternative. It operates from -20 °C to 60 °C at 5 to 95% humidity and is vibration-tested from 5 to 500 Hz at 2.16 Grms, and the IP54 rating protects it against dust and splashing water. Arestech names embedded HMI displays, factory automation, ATMs and self-service kiosks, and vending and ticketing machines as the target applications.

Official Arestech USA Distributor

Things Embedded is an official Arestech USA distributor, supplying the TPM-3217P configured and tested for USA machine builders and kiosk integrators. Within the Arestech range the TPM-3215 offers the same build at 15 inches, and the DM-117P/VM-2100 adds DVI and DisplayPort inputs with a front IP65 bezel.

With PCAP touch the TPM-3217P sits among our PCAP touch monitors, our industrial panel mount monitors and our 17 inch touch screen monitors. Where a kiosk or machine needs light bare-finger touch on a VGA feed, this is the TPM-3217 configuration to specify.
