ASRock Industrial IMB-X1231 Intel Bartlett Lake and 14th Gen Core W680 Mini-ITX Embedded Motherboard with ECC, 5x COM and Dual 2.5GbE

OEM equipment and control cabinets often need a small board that takes a socketed Intel Core processor, ECC memory and plenty of serial I/O in one design. The ASRock Industrial IMB-X1231 is a Mini-ITX embedded motherboard built for that brief, on the Intel W680 chipset with an LGA1700 socket, two 2.5GbE ports and five COM ports.

The socket takes Intel Core Series 2 (Bartlett Lake-S) and 14th, 13th or 12th Gen Core processors (Raptor Lake-S Refresh, Raptor Lake-S and Alder Lake-S) up to 65 W, so one board design can cover several CPU generations. Two SO-DIMM sockets take ECC or non-ECC DDR4 3200 up to 64 GB. Intel vPro is supported, security uses an onboard TPM 2.0 chip, and Windows 11 and Linux can be installed. Graphics come from the processor’s Intel UHD Graphics.

The rear panel has HDMI 2.0b, two DisplayPort 1.4a outputs and VGA, two Intel 2.5GbE ports with vPro on LAN1, four USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, COM1 and COM2 on RS-232/422/485, and mic-in and line-out. Internally, the IMB-X1231 adds an LVDS or eDP connector for a panel, three RS-232 COM headers, four GPI and four GPO, two USB 3.2 Gen1 and four USB 2.0, with up to four displays at once. Expansion is a PCIe x16 Gen4 slot that supports an x8/x8 riser, an M.2 E key for wireless, an M.2 B key with a SIM socket for 4G or 5G, two M.2 M key sockets (x4 PCIe Gen3 and x4 PCIe Gen4) and four SATA3 ports with Intel VMD RAID 0/1/5/10.

Power comes from a 24+4-pin ATX connector or a +12 V DC input, with AT or ATX power-on. The board is rated from -20 °C to 70 °C operating, has a watchdog timer, and carries CE and FCC marks. We supply it configured and tested, with the processor, cooler, memory, storage and OS image fitted. The IMB-1231 is a Q670 Mini-ITX board for 12th Gen Core, and the IMB-X1314 takes the W680 chipset with ECC to Micro-ATX with three 2.5GbE ports.
