Avalue EPX-APLP-3350-B1R Intel Celeron N3350 (Apollo Lake) 2.5″ Pico-ITX SBC with Dual 2.5GbE and Triple Display

A signage player or ticket kiosk rarely needs much processing, but it does need to stay cool in a closed housing. The EPX-APLP-3350-B1R is built for that kind of job. It is the dual-core option in the Avalue EPX-APLP series, a 2.5″ Pico-ITX SBC measuring 100 x 72 mm with dual 2.5GbE and three display outputs.

The Intel Celeron N3350 is a dual-core Apollo Lake processor running at up to 2.4 GHz within a 6 W TDP, which keeps heat output low in a small enclosure. That is enough for media playback, a browser-based interface or a single control application. One DDR3L 1600 MHz SO-DIMM slot takes up to 8 GB, and integrated Intel graphics drive DP++ at up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz, HDMI at up to 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz and dual-channel LVDS at 1920 x 1080.

Two 2.5GbE ports on Intel I226LM controllers sit on the rear with two USB 3.0 Type-A ports. Internal headers add four USB 2.0 ports, one RS-232 port for a reader, printer or controller, and 8-bit GPIO. An M.2 B-key socket with SIM slot takes an SSD or a cellular modem, an M.2 E-key socket takes Wi-Fi, and one SATA III port adds a 2.5″ drive. Realtek ALC888S audio with a 2 W stereo amplifier can drive kiosk speakers directly.

The EPX-APLP-3350-B1R runs from 12 V DC through a lockable jack, with AT or ATX power modes, and operates from 0 to 60 °C in up to 95% non-condensing humidity. A hardware watchdog can reset the board if the application stops responding, which helps an unattended kiosk recover without a site visit. If the software needs more cores, the EPX-APLP-3455-B1R offers the quad-core Celeron J3455 at 10 W with the same I/O and footprint.
