Axiomtek AX92353 4-Ch PCIe Lighting Control Module

The AX92353 is Axiomtek's 4-channel lighting control module, with four independent constant-current LED drivers, strobe and trigger modes and software intensity control. It cannot operate on its own and works with the AX92352 encoder card. It suits vision systems that switch LED lighting in step with camera triggers.

  • Four LED Channels: Four independent current-controlled drivers at 24 V DC each run a separate LED light head.
  • Strobe and Trigger Modes: Strobe mode gives 1 A per channel for 10 us to 10 ms, and trigger mode gives 0.5 A for 10 ms to 65 s.
  • Software Intensity Control: Output current is set in 50 mA steps by software, so brightness can be tuned per channel.
  • Delay and Duration Settings: Software sets duration and delay time for each LED output to line lighting up with the exposure.
  • Works With the AX92352: The module cannot operate independently and takes its control from an AX92352 over the supplied cable.

AX92353 Overview

Machine vision lighting needs to fire at the moment of exposure and at a repeatable brightness, or image quality drifts from part to part. The AX92353 is Axiomtek’s 4-channel lighting control module for this job. It cannot operate on its own: Axiomtek states it must be used with the AX92352 encoder card with real-time trigger I/O, and it ships with a cable for communication with that card. We specify the pair for inspection systems we build.

The module has four independent, current-controlled LED driver channels with a 24 V DC output. In trigger mode each channel delivers 0.5 A for a duration of 10 ms to 65 s. In strobe mode each channel delivers 1 A for 10 us to 10 ms. Output current is set by software in 50 mA steps, which gives fine control of intensity.

Software also sets the duration and delay time of each LED output, so lighting can be aligned with the trigger and exposure from the AX92352. That card handles encoder input and camera triggering, while this module drives the lights. For camera links, the AX92325-4PoE powers four GigE cameras on M12 connectors in the same Axiomtek range.

LED heads connect through an 8-pin terminal connector, and the packing list includes a 4 x 2 terminal block. Power comes through a 6-pin ATX power connector at 12 V, with 60 W at 12 V DC in trigger mode and 120 W at 12 V DC in strobe mode, so the host supply must cover that load. The module measures 151 x 80 mm. Axiomtek also lists an LED power cable for its IPC962 and IPC964 systems.

Official Axiomtek USA Distributor

Things Embedded is an official Axiomtek USA distributor, supplying the AX92353 for USA machine vision and inspection programs. Within the Axiomtek range the AX92352 encoder card is the required partner, providing the triggers, and the AX92320-4GbE powers four cameras whose exposures the lights follow.

As a vision lighting module the AX92353 sits among our frame grabber cards and our add-in cards for inspection builds. Where an AX92352 system needs four software-controlled LED channels in strobe or trigger mode, this is the module to specify.
