DFI AL051 2.5" Pico-ITX SBCs with Intel Atom E3900, Triple Display and Dual GbE

Space-limited equipment that has to drive more than one screen and join two networks leaves little room for a full-size board or a fan. The DFI AL051 series is built for that brief: a family of 2.5 inch Pico-ITX SBCs, also called Pico-ITX motherboards, that fit three display outputs, two Gigabit Ethernet ports and fanless cooling on a 100 x 72 mm board.

Every AL051 shares the same layout. One 204-pin DDR3L-1866 SO-DIMM socket takes up to 8 GB in single channel. Intel HD Graphics decodes H.264 and H.265 in hardware and drives three independent displays: Mini DP++ up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz, VGA up to 1920 x 1200 and dual-channel 18/24-bit LVDS for a built-in panel. The rear edge carries two GbE ports on Intel I211AT controllers, with Intel I210IT on request, and two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports. Internal headers add two USB 2.0 ports, one RS-232/422/485 port, 8-bit digital I/O, SMBus and HD audio on a Realtek ALC888S-VD2-GR codec. Storage runs from a SATA 3.0 port and an M.2 B key 2242 socket, and a full-size Mini PCIe socket takes an add-on card.

The builds differ by processor and temperature grade. For 0 to 60 °C the AL051-BC-E3930 runs the dual-core Atom x5-E3930 at 6.5 W, the AL051-BC-E3940 the quad-core Atom x5-E3940 at 9.5 W, the AL051-BC-E3950 the quad-core Atom x7-E3950 with bursts to 2.0 GHz at 12 W, and the AL051-BC-N3350 the dual-core Celeron N3350 at 6 W. The AL051-EC-E3930 takes the x5-E3930 to -20 to 70 °C, and the AL051-TC-E3930 takes it to -40 to 85 °C. A Pentium N4200 build is available on request with a minimum order quantity.

Power is a single 12 V DC input (±10%) on a 2-pin terminal block, with a 2-pin vertical connector as an option. Every AL051 is fanless and ships with a heat spreader, with heatsinks available as options, and storage temperature is -40 to 85 °C at 5 to 90% humidity. fTPM 2.0 and a watchdog timer programmable from 1 to 255 seconds are built in, and the boards boot in UEFI mode only with support for Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 64-bit and Linux. They carry CE and FCC marks. The series suits compact equipment that shows content on several screens at once, where a wide temperature build lets the same design move into cabinets that run colder or hotter.
