DFI AL05P 2.5" Pico-ITX SBCs with Intel Atom E3900, PoE-PD Power and eMMC

Running a separate power cable to a small device on a wall, ceiling or pole often costs more than the device itself. The DFI AL05P series is built for that brief: a family of 2.5 inch Pico-ITX SBCs, also called Pico-ITX motherboards, that take 48 V DC power from the same Ethernet cable that carries their data, on a fanless 100 x 72 mm board.

Every AL05P shares the same layout. The PoE input meets IEEE 802.3af as a powered device, with 0.5 kV isolation protection. Each build ships with 2 GB of memory down at 2400 MHz in single channel and 32 GB of onboard eMMC, so there are no memory or storage modules to fit. Intel HD Graphics decodes H.264 and H.265 in hardware and drives one Mini DP++ output up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz. The rear edge carries one GbE port on an Intel I211AT controller, which is also the PoE input, with Intel I210IT on request, and two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports. Internal headers add two USB 2.0 ports, one RS-232/422/485 port with ESD protection to ±15 kV air gap, 8-bit digital I/O and SMBus, and a full-size Mini PCIe socket takes an add-on card.

The builds differ by processor and temperature grade. For 0 to 60 °C the AL05P-BC-23E30 runs the dual-core Atom x5-E3930 at 6.5 W, the AL05P-BC-23E40 the quad-core Atom x5-E3940 at 9.5 W and the AL05P-BC-23N50 the dual-core Celeron N3350 at 6 W. For -20 to 70 °C the AL05P-EC-23E30 runs the x5-E3930 and the AL05P-EC-23E40 the quad-core x5-E3940. A Pentium N4200 build is available on request with a minimum order quantity.

Every AL05P is fanless and ships with a heat spreader, with heatsinks available as options, and storage temperature is -40 to 85 °C at 5 to 90% humidity. fTPM 2.0 and a watchdog timer programmable from 1 to 255 seconds are built in, and the boards boot in UEFI mode only with support for Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 64-bit and Linux. They carry CE and FCC marks. The series suits small networked devices mounted where there is no power socket nearby, where a single PoE cable carries both data and power and the -20 to 70 °C builds cover spaces that run colder or warmer than an office.
