DFI RNO171 AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000 Mini-ITX SBCs with Dual GbE and Quad Display

Machine vision cells, edge servers and multi-screen control systems often need more cores than earlier embedded Ryzen parts offered, without leaving the Mini-ITX footprint. The DFI RNO171 series brings AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000 processors, with six or eight cores and 12 or 16 threads, to a 170 x 170 mm board with four DP++ outputs, dual GbE and a PCIe x16 slot. These Mini-ITX industrial motherboards, also called Mini-ITX SBCs, share one layout across all four builds, so the processor is the only thing that changes.

At 45 W, the eight-core RNO171-CB-V2748 runs at 2.9 GHz with boost to 4.25 GHz, and the six-core RNO171-CB-V2546 at 3.0 GHz with boost to 3.95 GHz. At 15 W, the eight-core RNO171-CB-V2718 boosts to 4.15 GHz from a 1.7 GHz base, and the six-core RNO171-CB-V2516 to 3.95 GHz from 2.1 GHz. The eight-core parts carry seven Radeon Vega compute units and the six-core parts six, with DirectX 12, OpenGL 4.6 and OpenCL 2.1 support for 3D interfaces and GPU-assisted image processing. Two DDR4 3200 SO-DIMM slots take up to 64 GB, enough for several containers or virtual machines on one board.

Four DP++ outputs drive independent displays at up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz. Rear I/O adds two GbE ports on Realtek RTL8119 controllers, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 and two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, an RS-232/422/485 and an RS-232 DB-9 port and audio, while internal connectors carry four more RS-232 ports and four USB 2.0. Expansion is a PCIe x16 Gen3 slot at x8 signal, an M.2 M-key 2280 socket for PCIe x4 Gen3 NVMe or SATA SSDs, with 2242 as a factory build option, and two SATA 3.0 ports. Audio runs through a Realtek ALC888S codec with rear mic-in, line-in and line-out and an internal S/PDIF header.

Power is a single 12 V DC input on a 4-pin connector or DC barrel jack. The boards run from -5 to 65 °C with an active cooler matched to the processor TDP, and DFI lists Windows 10 and Linux support with a watchdog timer programmable from 1 to 255 seconds. The RNO171 series carries CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS compliance, and the choice between 15 W and 45 W builds usually comes down to how much heat the enclosure can remove.
