Diamond Systems EPS-12G1 Rugged 12 Port Managed Ethernet Switch Board with 1/2.5 Gigabit Fiber Port

Many vehicle and industrial networks run their devices on copper but need one fiber link back to a central switch or another cabinet. The EPS-12G1 is the single-SFP build in the Diamond Systems EPS-12G2 series: a standalone Ethernet switch board designed by Diamond for industrial, on-vehicle and military applications, with no host computer needed.

It combines 12 10/100/1000 Mbps copper ports, all non-blocking at wire speed, with one SFP socket for 1G/2.5G fiber modules or copper SFPs. The switch is Layer 2+, managed by a built-in MIPS processor running embedded software. A web interface over one of the Ethernet ports handles day-to-day management, and a command-line interface over RS-232 gives out-of-band access. The board ships with its firmware loaded and keeps dual application images in on-board memory.

Network features include 4K IEEE 802.1Q VLANs with independent and shared VLAN learning, 8K MAC addresses, jumbo frames at all speeds and IEEE 802.3ad link aggregation based on Layer 2 to Layer 4 information. RSTP and MSTP handle redundant paths, and each port has 8 QoS queues with strict or deficit-weighted round robin scheduling. A built-in +5 to +40 V DC supply powers the board, with 9.2 W maximum consumption when all ports are active. It operates from -40 to +85 °C with its heat sink. Latching connectors on every I/O port give better protection against vibration in vehicles. The CK-EPS12G2 cable kit covers serial, Ethernet and power connections; SFP modules and fiber cables are not included.
