FLD-NAO-FS-02 Overview
Not every Jetson Nano project needs PoE or a second network port, and leaving them out keeps the bill of materials down. The FLD-NAO-FS-02 fits the NVIDIA Jetson Nano module to the lower-cost BB02 version of the Diamond Systems FLOYD vision carrier board, installed, programmed and fitted with a fan sink.
The Jetson Nano pairs a quad-core Arm Cortex-A57 CPU at 1.43 GHz with a 128-core Maxwell GPU rated at 472 GFLOPS, which suits imaging and inference work on a small number of streams. All three 4-lane MIPI CSI-2 camera connectors stay on this build, so the camera count matches the full-feature board. For more inference headroom on the same I/O, the FLD-XNX-FS-02 uses the Xavier NX module at 21 TOPS.
Because the BB02 carrier omits the PCIe switch that feeds the extra I/O on BB01, the FLD-NAO-FS-02 gives its M.2 2280 socket a full PCIe x4 link, which can raise NVMe read and write speeds for recording or logging. The trade-off is one Gigabit Ethernet port without PoE, one HDMI 2.0 output and no Mini PCIe socket. One USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, a microSD slot, eight 3.3 V GPIO lines and two serial ports (one RS-232 and one RS-232/485) complete the I/O.
The board takes 12-24 V DC and Diamond Systems rates it from -25 to +80 °C, matching the Jetson Nano module. FLOYD is supported by a Linux BSP based on NVIDIA JetPack. If the design later needs PoE+ cameras, dual displays or a Mini PCIe card, the FLD-NAO-FS-01 fits the same module to the full-feature BB01 carrier.
