Diamond Systems RAPTOR-EPSILON Rugged 8 Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch With Wide Voltage Input and Serial Management Port

A small vehicle or outdoor network with a handful of cameras, computers and radios needs a managed switch that is sealed against weather and stays cool without fans. The RAPTOR-EPSILON is Diamond Systems’ compact rugged Ethernet switch: a self-contained system in a sealed aluminum enclosure that runs straight from power-up, with all firmware loaded so no development effort is needed.

It provides eight 10/100/1000 Mbps copper Ethernet ports with non-blocking wire-speed performance, carried as four 8-wire gigabit ports on each MIL D38999 connector. Layer 2+ management software runs on a built-in 416 MHz MIPS 24KEC microcontroller with 4 MB of packet memory. You manage it through a web interface over any Ethernet port, or through an RS-232 serial port at up to 230 kbps for out-of-band access.

The software supports 8K MAC addresses and 4K IEEE 802.1Q VLANs, jumbo frames at all speeds, IPv4 and IPv6 multicast, IEEE 802.3ad link aggregation, RSTP and MSTP, IEEE 802.1X and 8 QoS queues per port, with DSCP remarking and storm control. ActiPHY and PerfectReach power management power down unused ports and trim drive levels on short cables, and VeriPHY runs cable diagnostics. Power enters through a wide-range +5 to +32 V DC supply with MIL-STD-461 compliance from an integrated filter, and the switch draws 1.8 W plus 0.45 W per active port at +5 V DC. It operates from -40 to +85 °C. The IP65 rated enclosure is aluminum T6061, with conduction cooling or an add-on heat sink. Diamond lists MIL-STD-202G for shock and vibration, and offers custom cables, enclosure changes and coatings.
