Forecr DSBOX-N2 NVIDIA Jetson Nano Fanless Industrial Box PCs

The Forecr DSBOX-N2 series is a family of industrial box PCs built on the NVIDIA Jetson Nano module with 4 GB of LPDDR4 memory. Each fanless unit pairs a 128-core Maxwell GPU with Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.1, software-configurable RS-232/422/485 and three M.2 sockets on a 9-28 VDC input, and the DSBOX-N2 series suits IIoT, Industry 4.0 and cost-effective edge analytics deployments.

  • NVIDIA Jetson Nano: A quad-core Cortex-A57 CPU and 128-core Maxwell GPU bring deep learning inference to cost-sensitive edge analytics deployments.
  • DeepStream Video: Processes up to 8 Full-HD video streams with the NVIDIA DeepStream SDK, with 4K decode and HDMI 2.0 display output.
  • Serial and Digital I/O: A software-configurable RS-232/422/485 port and 2-in/3-out digital I/O connect PLCs, sensors and legacy serial equipment.
  • Triple M.2 Expansion: An M.2 Key-M socket for SSD storage plus M.2 Key-E and Key-B sockets for WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE or 5G modules, plus a SIM slot.
  • Low-Power Fanless Build: Draws under 10 W on a 9-28 VDC input, with fanless construction rated from -25°C to +65°C ambient.

DSBOX-N2 Description

Many IIoT and Industry 4.0 projects need AI at the edge on a tight budget and in a tight space, running from whatever DC supply is already in the cabinet. The Forecr DSBOX-N2 series meets that brief with industrial box PCs built around the NVIDIA Jetson Nano module, in a fanless 110 x 130 x 60 mm enclosure that draws under 10 W and is designed for 24/7 operation. Forecr positions the range for cost-effective edge analytics deployment, with individual configurations and ODM branding available from the manufacturer.

Every DSBOX-N2 shares the same design. The Jetson Nano combines a quad-core Arm Cortex-A57 processor with an NVIDIA Maxwell GPU of 128 CUDA cores and 4 GB of 64-bit LPDDR4 memory, enough to process up to 8 Full-HD video streams with the DeepStream SDK and to decode and display 4K video. Storage combines 16 GB of eMMC 5.1 flash, a MicroSD slot and an M.2 Key-M SSD socket, while M.2 Key-E and Key-B sockets add WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE or 5G modules, with a SIM slot for the cellular module on Key-B. The operating system is Ubuntu Linux 18.04, and the module supports deep neural networks for vision and sensor analytics at the edge. Two USB 3.1 Type-A ports and Gigabit Ethernet handle cameras, storage and network links.

The range splits by power control. The DSBOX-N2-AA is the standard industrial I/O build, without the power button option, for fixed installs that run unattended inside cabinets and machines. The DSBOX-N2-XX-P adds a front power button for attended installs, pilot lines and test benches where staff switch the unit on and off locally. Compute, I/O, storage and enclosure are otherwise the same, so the choice depends only on how the unit will be operated on site.

Industrial I/O on every DSBOX-N2 covers one Gigabit Ethernet port, two USB 3.1 Type-A ports, a software-configurable RS-232/422/485 port, two digital inputs and three digital outputs, with one HDMI 2.0 output for 4K display at 3840 x 2160. A 9-28 VDC input and an ambient rating of -25°C to +65°C suit these industrial box PCs to edge analytics, multi-stream video monitoring and IIoT gateways in size and power constrained systems across manufacturing and building automation.

Official Forecr USA Distributor

Things Embedded is an official Forecr USA distributor, and the DSBOX-N2 is the cost-effective entry to Forecr's boxed Jetson range, built for compact cabinet installs on low-power DC supplies of 9 to 28 V. In the same enclosure size, the DSBOX-TX2NX adds a CAN Bus port and 1.33 TFLOPS of AI performance, and the DSBOX-NX2 moves to Jetson Xavier NX for 21 TOPS when models grow heavier. For Orin-generation modules, the DSBOX-ORNX takes Jetson Orin NX and Orin Nano in a fanless industrial box.

Across our catalog, the DSBOX-N2 family sits among our Jetson Nano computers and our embedded box PCs, where a small fanless enclosure suits cabinet and machine-side installs with limited space. These units are also listed among our fanless PCs for dusty or enclosed sites where a cooling fan would need regular cleaning, and where low power draw keeps heat inside the cabinet to a minimum. The same small footprint suits retrofit projects where an existing cabinet has little spare room for new hardware.
