IB3-281 Description
Kiosks, vending machines and machine controllers often need more serial ports and display options than a compact board offers, and many of them sit in cabinets that get cold. The Giada IB3-281 series puts Intel Alder Lake-N processors on a 3.5″ SBC measuring 146 x 102 mm, with passive cooling, a 12 to 24 V DC input and operation from -20 to 60 °C, so one board design can serve an indoor kiosk and an unheated enclosure alike.
Every IB3-281 board has 8 GB of LPDDR5 at 4800 MHz soldered on the board, so there is no SO-DIMM to unseat under vibration, and an M.2 M-key 2280 socket for an NVMe SSD on PCIe 3.0 x4. Intel UHD Graphics drives HDMI and DisplayPort at up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz and dual-channel 24-bit LVDS at up to 1920 x 1200, with two displays active at once. Windows 10, Windows 11 and Ubuntu Linux are supported, with an optional TPM 2.0 and a watchdog timer.
The IB3-281-N97 uses the quad-core Intel Processor N97 at 12 W, which suits signage playback, kiosk software and HMIs with a full desktop. The IB3-281-X7211E uses the dual-core Intel Atom x7211E at 6 W, from Intel’s Atom x7000E embedded line, for controllers, data concentrators and simpler displays where lower power and heat matter more than core count.
Connectivity is generous for the size. A 2.5GbE port on an Intel I226-V and a GbE port on an Intel I210-AT keep a device network apart from the uplink. Four RS-232 and two RS-485 ports on headers connect printers, card readers, meters and drives, alongside four inputs and four outputs of GPIO. Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports sit on the edge, with one USB 3.2 Gen 1 and four USB 2.0 ports on internal headers, and an M.2 E-key 2230 socket takes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Audio includes a rear headset jack.
Power is 12 to 24 V DC through a lockable DC jack or an internal 4-pin header, with auto power-on after a supply interruption. Both IB3-281 boards operate from -20 to 60 °C with 0.7 m/s of airflow, which suits unheated kiosks and cabinets in cold stores, forecourts or outdoor shelters.

Official Giada USA Distributor
Things Embedded is an official Giada USA distributor, supplying the IB3-281 series configured with an NVMe SSD, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and a Windows or Linux image, then tested before it ships. For a smaller board with the same Alder Lake-N processors, the IB2-281 uses the 2.5" Pico-ITX size with 2.5GbE, HDMI and LVDS. The EN-J6412DL is a 3.5" Intel Celeron J6412 (Elkhart Lake) board with DDR4 SO-DIMMs, a SATA port and an M.2 slot for 4G, and the CB5-108 moves to a Mini-ITX motherboard on the AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS with four DisplayPort outputs and two PCIe slots. We can advise on serial and GPIO wiring, LVDS panel matching, SSD sizing and Windows or Linux image builds, so the board arrives ready for your enclosure.
