PCIe-10G550X Overview
Some vision and analytics systems need two fast Ethernet links but no power on the cable, because the cameras, sensors or network equipment already have a supply. The PCIe-10G550X is the non-PoE build in the Neousys PCIe-550X series: a 10GbE frame grabber card that keeps the two 10GBASE-T ports of the series and leaves out the PoE+ circuitry.
An Intel X550-AT2 controller runs both RJ45 ports, with 15.5 KB jumbo frames, NIC teaming and IEEE 1588 support. The ports follow IEEE 802.3an for 10GBASE-T, IEEE 802.3bz for NBASE-T and IEEE 802.3ab for 1000BASE-T, so each links at 10G, 5G, 2.5G or 1G. Cable reach at 10G is 100 meters over CAT 6a or 55 meters over CAT 6, while 5G runs 100 meters over CAT 6 and 2.5G runs 100 meters over CAT 5e. The card connects to the host over Gen3 PCI Express x4.
Because it carries no PoE, the card suits externally powered cameras and other 10GbE devices on a vision computer. If the cameras need power over their cables, the PCIe-PoE550X adds 802.3at PoE+ to both ports, and the PCIe-PoE464at offers four 5GBASE-T PoE+ ports.
Power draw is a maximum of 11.5 W for 2x 10GbE operation. The card operates from 0 to 60 °C with airflow across its heat sink and measures 168 x 111.2 mm. It carries CE Class A to EN 55024/55032 and FCC Class A to Part 15, Subpart B, with IEC 61000-4-x Level 3 immunity. Neousys names machine vision and surveillance video analytics for the series. We supply the card on its own or fit it to vision computers we build, where it takes a single PCIe x4 slot.
