Neousys POC-40+ Intel Atom x6413E Elkhart Lake Ultra-Compact Embedded PC with Isolated DIO

A gateway in a control cabinet has to read meters and drives over serial, switch alarms and relays, and send data upstream, all from a unit small enough to clip onto a crowded DIN rail. The POC-40+ is an ultra-compact embedded PC from the Neousys POC-40 series that adds isolated DIO and an isolated RS-422/485 port to a 52 x 89 x 112 mm enclosure.

The POC-40+ uses the quad-core Intel Atom x6413E from the Elkhart Lake family, running at 1.5 GHz base and 3.0 GHz burst at 9W. It takes up to 32 GB of DDR4-3200 in one SODIMM slot, with Intel UHD Graphics driving a DisplayPort output at 4096 x 2160 and 60 Hz, and fTPM 2.0. That is enough headroom for protocol conversion, edge logging and light analytics in a gateway role.

Two Intel I210 GbE ports, two USB 3.1 Gen1 ports and two USB 2.0 ports cover networks and peripherals. For field devices the POC-40+ has one software-programmable RS-232/422/485 port, one isolated RS-422/485 port and 4-channel isolated DI and DO as standard. Storage is an M.2 2280 M key SATA socket, a full-size mini-PCIe socket with internal SIM takes a cellular or I/O module, and an M.2 E key socket takes a Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6 module.

Power is 12 to 20V DC on a 4-pin terminal block, with ignition power control available on the POC-40+IGN version, and a second terminal block provides remote control. The POC-40+ runs fanless from -25°C to 60°C, is tested to MIL-STD-810G for vibration and shock and carries CE/FCC Class A. It weighs 0.6 kg and mounts on a DIN rail as standard.
