NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX Modules with 21 TOPS and 260-Pin SO-DIMM

The NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX series is a family of system-on-modules with a 384-core Volta GPU, a 6-core Carmel CPU and up to 21 TOPS on a 260-pin SO-DIMM. It offers 8GB and 16GB LPDDR4x versions with 14 CSI-2 lanes, PCIe Gen4 and 10, 15 and 20 W power modes. The Jetson Xavier NX series suits smart cameras, drones, inspection and small edge AI deployments.

  • 21 TOPS Volta GPU: 384 CUDA cores and 48 Tensor Cores at up to 1100 MHz give up to 21 TOPS INT8 in the 15 and 20 W modes.
  • 6-Core Carmel CPU: Six Armv8.2 Carmel cores at up to 1.9 GHz with 4 MB of shared L3 cache run control and pre-processing.
  • 260-Pin SO-DIMM Connector: A small form factor shared with the Jetson Nano and TX2 NX, carrying 14 CSI-2 lanes and PCIe Gen4.
  • 10, 15 and 20 W Modes: Three supported power modes from a 5 V input let one design trade AI throughput against power draw.
  • Listed Through July 2027: NVIDIA lists both Xavier NX modules through July 2027, with the Jetson Orin NX as the successor.

Jetson Xavier NX Description

The Xavier NX put Volta-class AI compute into the small SO-DIMM form factor, and many products designed around it are still in production. The NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX series is the family of Xavier NX system-on-modules, and the two versions differ only in memory.

Both Jetson Xavier NX modules carry a 384-core Volta GPU with 48 Tensor Cores at up to 1100 MHz and a 6-core Carmel Armv8.2 CPU at up to 1.9 GHz, giving up to 21 TOPS INT8 in the 15 and 20 W modes. Memory runs on a 128-bit LPDDR4x interface at up to 1866 MHz, with 16 GB of eMMC 5.1. The 260-pin SO-DIMM connector carries 14 MIPI CSI-2 lanes, PCIe x4 Gen4 plus x1 Gen3, USB 3.1, Gigabit Ethernet and CAN, and power modes of 10, 15 and 20 W run from a 5 V input. Two eDP, DP or HDMI outputs run at up to 3840 x 2160, and the video engines decode up to 22 streams of 1080p60 H.265, which suits multi-camera analytics. Several carriers on our site list the Jetson Nano and TX2 NX alongside the Xavier NX on the same connector.

The range has two modules. The Jetson Xavier NX Module carries 8 GB of LPDDR4x and suits single-model camera and robotics builds. The Jetson Xavier NX 16GB Module doubles memory to 16 GB for larger models or several networks at once. Because compute and connector are shared, a carrier built for one usually takes the other, and NVIDIA lists both through July 2027.

Jetson Xavier NX modules typically sit in smart cameras, drones, AMRs, inspection heads and DIN-rail edge computers, where the SO-DIMM form factor and a 10 to 20 W budget fit a small enclosure. NVIDIA states that an official end-of-life notice is sent at least eight months before the last shipment. The Jetson Orin NX is the successor: NVIDIA quotes five times the performance and twice the CUDA cores of the Xavier NX, with up to 157 TOPS. The Orin NX shares the form factor but is not pin-compatible, so carriers have to be designed for the common I/O. Our Xavier and TX2 end-of-life guide covers last-time-buy planning.
