Sintrones VBOX-3631 Intel Core Series 3 (Wildcat Lake) Rugged Edge AI Computers with 2x CAN FD

Many vehicle and machine projects now want a little AI at the edge without giving up the plain connectivity a gateway needs: Ethernet to cameras and sensors, CAN to the vehicle or machine, serial to older equipment and a cellular link home. The Sintrones VBOX-3631 series is a family of rugged edge AI computers that covers that list on Intel Core Series 3, with a built-in NPU, two CAN FD ports and wide-range 9 to 60 V DC power. Processor options are the Core 7 350 and Core 5 320, each with two P-cores and four low-power E-cores at up to 4.8 GHz and 4.6 GHz, and the Core 3 304 with one P-core and four low-power E-cores up to 4.3 GHz. These Wildcat Lake parts sit in the Core Series 3 rather than the Core Ultra range. One DDR5-6400 SO-DIMM takes up to 64 GB with In-Band ECC, a TPM 2.0 compliant with FIPS 140-3 is fitted, and two M.2 2280 sockets take NVMe SSDs. Displays connect through HDMI, single-link DVI-D and USB Type-C DisplayPort, and expansion covers two M.2 Key B sockets with dual nano SIM, an M.2 Key E socket and a mini PCIe slot for optional 5G, Wi-Fi, GNSS or CAN modules.

The two builds differ in networking and power connectors. The VBOX-3631 has one Intel I226-LM 2.5GbE port and four GbE ports from a Marvell switch, all on RJ45, with a three-pin terminal block for power. The VBOX-3631-M12X uses screw-locking M12 X-coded connectors for three LAN ports, one 2.5GbE and two GbE, and an M12 K-coded connector for the DC input, for vehicles and machinery that vibrate all day.

In practice, the VBOX-3631 series suits vehicle gateways, fleet telematics, edge AI on road and rail vehicles, and outdoor equipment cabinets. Every model has two RS-232/422/485 ports, six digital inputs, four digital outputs and one isolated output, and runs fanless from -40 °C to 70 °C with 0.6 m/s airflow in an IP40 aluminum case of 250 x 160 x 55 mm. Sintrones lists MIL-STD-810H vibration and shock ratings, CE, FCC Class A, UKCA and E-Mark, with a design to EN 45545-2 (R25) requirements, and an optional battery unit gives up to five minutes of backup.
