Stereolabs ZED-X Global Shutter GMSL2 IP67 Stereo Cameras with 12 cm Baseline and Up to 35 m Depth
The Stereolabs ZED-X series is a family of IP67 stereo cameras with dual 1/2.6" 2.3MP global-shutter sensors on a 12 cm baseline, wide 2.2 mm or narrow 4.6 mm lenses, an optional built-in polarizer, GMSL2 over FAKRA Z up to 15 m and hardware multi-camera sync. The ZED-X series suits autonomous mobile robots, agricultural machines, logistics vehicles and outdoor process automation deployments.
- Global Shutter 2.3MP Sensors: Two 1/2.6″ global-shutter sensors at 1920 x 1200 and 60 fps or 960 x 600 at 120 fps, free of motion skew.
- Wide or Narrow Lens Choice: 2.2 mm lenses for depth to 20 m over 120° diagonally, or 4.6 mm lenses for depth to 35 m.
- GMSL2 over FAKRA Z: Lockable GMSL2 carries video and power over coax up to 15 m with low latency and resistance to EMI.
- Hardware Multi-Camera Sync: Multiple cameras trigger together within 100 µs, so depth and RGB from several views describe the same moment.
- IP67 and -20 to 60 °C: IP67-rated aluminum bodies rated for 2g RMS vibration, with optional built-in polarizer builds for outdoor glare.

ZED-X Description
Moving robots expose the limits of USB depth cameras quickly: cables work loose, long runs pick up interference and rolling shutters smear the scene as the machine turns. The Stereolabs ZED-X series answers each of those points with IP67 stereo cameras that use global-shutter sensors and a lockable GMSL2 link to an NVIDIA Jetson host, for obstacle detection, navigation and process automation.
Every ZED-X camera pairs two 1/2.6″ 2.3MP global-shutter sensors on a 12 cm baseline, outputting 1920 x 1200 at 60 fps, 1080p at 60 fps or 960 x 600 at 120 fps. GMSL2 carries video and power over one coax with a FAKRA Z connector for up to 15 m, at a typical 1.46 W, and hardware sync aligns multiple cameras within 100 µs so a ring of cameras sees the same instant. A 200 Hz IMU rated to 12g supports tracking, and the ZED SDK adds depth, point clouds, positional tracking, object detection, body tracking and spatial mapping. Hosts are NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin, Orin NX, AGX Xavier and Xavier NX running Jetson Linux.
Variants differ by lens and polarizer. The ZED-X-WIDE uses 2.2 mm lenses for up to a 120° diagonal view and depth from 0.3 m to 20 m, suiting robots that work among racking and people. The ZED-X-WIDE-POL adds a built-in polarizer to those optics for outdoor fleets in bright sun. The ZED-X-NARROW moves to 4.6 mm lenses for depth from 1 m to 35 m and body tracking to 15 m, a good fit for faster vehicles. The ZED-X-NARROW-POL combines that reach with the polarizer for farm, logistics and industrial machines.
In practice the ZED-X series suits agriculture, manufacturing and logistics robots, along with outdoor vehicles that need dependable depth in weather. All four IP67-rated stereo cameras operate from -20 °C to 60 °C at up to 90% humidity at 40 °C, are rated for 2g RMS vibration from 3 to 500 Hz, mount by a 1/4″-20 thread, 2x M3 and 4x M4 holes, and carry CE and FCC marks with ICES-003, RoHS, REACH and TSCA listed. Stereolabs offers FAKRA cables from 0.3 m to 15 m, extensions, 1-to-4 cables and a tiltable mount.
