Axiomtek AX92320-2GbE 4 Port M12 10GbE PoE+ Intel X710-AT2 PCIe Frame Grabber

The AX92320-2GbE is the two-port build in the Axiomtek AX92320 series, a PoE frame grabber card with two Gigabit RJ45 ports, IEEE 802.3at PoE at up to 30 W per port and a PCI Express x4 interface. It suits vision and surveillance systems that power a pair of GigE cameras from the PC.

  • Two Gigabit PoE Ports: Two 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports, each on its own Intel i210-AT controller, so each camera link has a dedicated controller.
  • IEEE 802.3at PoE: Each port delivers up to 30 W at 54 V DC, which powers a camera over the same cable that carries its data.
  • Slot or ATX Power: The PCIe slot alone supplies up to 20 W of PoE, and the 6-pin ATX connector raises the total to 120 W.
  • Jumbo Frames and IEEE 1588: Support for 9.5KB jumbo frames and IEEE 1588 helps large image transfers and time-aligned capture across cameras.
  • Managed PoE Output: PoE power management software and smart on/off for each LAN port let you restart a camera without opening the system.

AX92320-2GbE Overview

A vision cell with two GigE cameras needs data and power on each cable, without extra injectors or a separate switch in the cabinet. The AX92320-2GbE is the two-port build in the Axiomtek AX92320 series, a PoE card that Axiomtek describes as a GigE frame grabber card for machine vision and surveillance applications. It fits the PCI Express slot of a multi-channel vision control system, and we specify it for the systems we build and supply.

The card carries two independent Gigabit PoE ports on 8-pin RJ45 connectors. Each port has its own Intel i210-AT controller running at 10/100/1000 Mbps, with support for 9.5KB jumbo frames and IEEE 1588. The host interface is PCI Express x4, so both ports run at full Gigabit rate side by side. Because each camera sits on a dedicated controller, one busy stream does not hold up the other.

Each port is IEEE 802.3at compliant and delivers up to 30 W at 54 V DC. From the PCIe slot alone the card supplies up to 20 W of PoE in total; connect the 6-pin ATX power connector and the total rises to 120 W. PoE power management software and smart on/off for each LAN port help when a camera needs a remote restart. For four cameras, the AX92320-4GbE doubles the port count on the same board. Our guide to PoE power budgeting for multi-camera systems covers how to size the supply.

The ATX connector takes 12 V DC or 24 V DC, drawing 12 A at 12 V or 6 A at 24 V, and the PoE output has overload protection. The card operates from 0 to +60 °C with air flow and stores from -20 to +80 °C. It measures 168 x 111 mm, and Axiomtek lists Windows 7 and 10 (32/64-bit) support.

Official Axiomtek USA Distributor

Things Embedded is an official Axiomtek USA distributor, supplying the AX92320-2GbE for USA machine vision and surveillance programs. Within the Axiomtek range the AX92320-4GbE adds two more PoE ports for four-camera systems, and the AX92325-2PoE offers two PoE ports on M12 X-coded connectors instead of RJ45.

As a two-port PoE card the AX92320-2GbE sits among our PoE PCIe cards, our machine vision frame grabbers and our PCIe expansion cards. Where two GigE cameras need power and data over one RJ45 cable each, this is the card to specify.
