P712 Overview

A driver or guard display needs to be read at an angle and in changing light, while the computer behind it sits in a cabinet elsewhere on the train. The P712 is Axiomtek’s 12.1 inch railway monitor for that layout, with a 600 nit XGA LCD, 178° viewing angles and 5-wire resistive touch, and it is compliant with EN 50155.

The panel is an XGA LCD at 1024 x 768 with a 1000:1 contrast ratio, a 25 ms response time and a backlight MTBF of 50,000 hours. A light sensor dims the backlight automatically, and Axiomtek describes the panel as sunlight readable. The wide 178° viewing angles let a second crew member read the screen from the side. The 5-wire resistive touch screen is rated for 35 million touches and works with gloves, and five OSD keys sit beside the screen.

The P712 takes VGA, DVI-D and HDMI inputs, so it can pair with a range of onboard computers, and a multi-function port carries the touch controller and remote control. Line-in feeds a built-in speaker. The P710 is the 10.4 inch model at 500 nits, and the GOT712-837 puts an Intel Atom computer behind a 12.1 inch railway touch screen.

Power is a typical 24 to 110 V DC on an M12 A-coded connector. The P712 is fanless, operates from -25 °C to 55 °C at 20 to 90% humidity, and pairs an IP65 aluminum front bezel with IP40 rear protection. It is compliant with EN 50121-3-2, EN 61373 Cat. 1 Class B and EN 45545-2 and carries CE and FCC marks. It measures 330 x 245 x 50.2 mm, weighs 2.3 kg and fits panel mounting or a VESA 100 mount.
