DFI EHL051-TCD-6211E Intel Elkhart Lake Atom x6211E Pico-ITX Single Board Computer with Dual GbE and -40 to 85 °C

A protocol gateway that turns Modbus RTU into MQTT needs very little compute, but it may sit in a substation kiosk or a pumping station for a decade. The EHL051-TCD-6211E is the entry extended temperature build in the DFI EHL051 series of Pico-ITX single board computers, at 6 W with burst clocks to 3.0 GHz.

Its Intel Atom x6211E (Elkhart Lake) has two cores at 1.3 GHz with bursts to 3.0 GHz and a 6 W TDP, so the board stays cool on its fanless heatsink while still handling short bursts of encryption or logging. One DDR4 3200 MHz SO-DIMM takes up to 32 GB with in-band ECC. Intel UHD Graphics drives HDMI and dual-channel LVDS, two displays at once, for a maintenance screen when needed.

Two GbE ports on Intel I226 controllers keep the field side apart from the uplink. Two RS-232/422/485 ports on internal headers take serial field devices, 8-bit DIO reads contacts and drives relays, and two rear USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports with two internal USB 2.0 headers add storage and keys. The M.2 B-key takes a 4G or 5G module with its SIM slot for remote backhaul, the M.2 E-key takes Wi-Fi, and a SATA 3.0 port adds a drive.

The EHL051-TCD-6211E runs from 12 V DC on a 2-pin terminal block and operates from -40 to 85 °C, with CE, FCC, UKCA, RoHS and KC compliance, TPM 2.0 and a 1 to 255 second watchdog. The EHL051-TCD-6214RE is the 6 W RE alternative at a fixed 1.4 GHz, and EHL051-BCD-N6210 suits indoor gateways at -5 to 65 °C.
