Diamond Systems JUPITER-MM-7000 : JMM-7312-ISO-UPS 40W 12V Isolated PC104 Power Supply with UPS and MIL-STD-461/704/1275

On a military vehicle, a power interruption can mean a reboot at the worst moment, and an isolated supply with backup energy keeps the computer running through it. The JMM-7312-ISO-UPS is the full-feature 12 V model in the Diamond Systems JUPITER-MM-7000 series, a PC/104 UPS power supply that puts filtering, isolation and UPS control on one board.

It delivers 12 V at 40 W from a 9 to 36 V DC input, with 500 V isolation between input and output. Diamond specifies EMI compatibility to MIL-STD-461C/D/E/F and DO-160 requirements, input immunity per MIL-STD-704A/D/E/F, MIL-STD-1275A/B and DO-160, transient protection against 100 V for 50 ms and 600 V spikes for 20 µs, brownout protection down to 6 V for one second, and reverse polarity protection. Diamond designs the family to meet MIL-STD-810G shock and vibration specifications; compliance of the finished system depends on the full installation.

The UPS input takes a supercapacitor energy pack, either plugged onto the underside of the supply or cabled to a remote position. Diamond designed its SEP-7000 supercapacitor packs, storing up to 3300 J, for this input, though its ordering table now lists those packs as end of life, so confirm the energy store when you specify. With Diamond’s larger 3300 J pack, its datasheet quotes about 150 seconds of hold-up at 20 W and 75 seconds at 40 W. A built-in microcontroller reports charge and supply status on LEDs and over USB to the host CPU.

The JMM-7312-ISO-UPS runs from -40 to 85 °C, cooled by an integrated heat spreader mounting plate. The JMM-7305-ISO-UPS is the same full-feature build with a 5 V output, and the JMM-7312-UPS keeps the 12 V output, filtering and UPS without isolation.
