Diamond Systems JUPITER-MM-7000 : JMM-7312-UPS 40W 12V Rugged PC104 Power Supply with MIL-STD-461/704/1275 and UPS

Not every vehicle system needs galvanic isolation, but most still need clean power and a way through a dropout. The JMM-7312-UPS is the full-feature 12 V model without isolation in the Diamond Systems JUPITER-MM-7000 series: a PC/104 UPS power supply that keeps the MIL-STD filtering and UPS control of the isolated version on a shared ground.

It delivers 12 V at 40 W from a 9 to 36 V DC input. Diamond specifies EMI compatibility to MIL-STD-461C/D/E/F and DO-160 requirements, input immunity per MIL-STD-704A/D/E/F, MIL-STD-1275A/B and DO-160, transient protection against 100 V for 50 ms and 600 V spikes for 20 µs, brownout protection down to 6 V for one second, and reverse polarity protection. Diamond designs the family to meet MIL-STD-810G shock and vibration specifications, and compliance of the finished system depends on the full installation.

The UPS input takes a supercapacitor energy pack, plugged onto the supply or cabled to a remote position. Diamond designed its SEP-7000 supercapacitor packs, storing up to 3300 J, for this input, though its ordering table now lists those packs as end of life, so confirm the energy store when you specify. With Diamond’s 3300 J pack, the datasheet quotes about 150 seconds at 20 W and 75 seconds at 40 W. An on-board microcontroller reports charge and supply status on LEDs and over USB, so host software can start a shutdown before the backup runs out.

The JMM-7312-UPS runs from -40 to 85 °C, cooled through an integrated heat spreader mounting plate. The JMM-7312-ISO-UPS adds 500 V isolation at the same 12 V and 40 W, and the JMM-7012-UPS keeps the 12 V output and UPS without the MIL-STD filter stages for industrial systems.
