12G-SDI to QSDI Overview
Moving to 12G-SDI does not retire every 4K monitor, recorder or switcher that expects dual-link or quad-link SDI. The Yuan 12G-SDI to QSDI is a 12G-SDI converter that splits single-link 12G-SDI into those multi-link formats, which helps broadcast and live production facilities keep earlier 4K kit in service.
Input is one 12G-SDI connection at 4096×2160 and 3840×2160 at 60/50 fps, 6G-SDI at 4K30, and HD and SD-SDI. Outputs are one 12G-SDI and three 6G-SDI, carrying single-link 12G-SDI, dual-link 6G-SDI or quad-link 3G-SDI at 4K60 in two-sample interleave, dual-link 3G-SDI or quad-link HD-SDI at 4K30, and dual-link HD-SDI at 1080p60. 3G-SDI Level A, Level B dual link and Level B dual stream are supported. Embedded audio is 16 channels, 24-bit, 48 kHz.
The 12G-SDI to QSDI is plug and play and runs from a 7.5 to 15 V DC input. For the reverse job, the QSDI to 12G-SDI merges dual or quad-link SDI back into 12G-SDI. If your source is HDMI 2.0 or you need scaling, the 12G-SDI/HDMI2.0 to QSDI-S adds an HDMI input and up/down conversion.
Yuan publishes no operating temperature or certification for this unit, so plan for an indoor rack.
