DFI EC700-ADN Intel Atom x7000E and N97 Fanless Embedded PCs with 9-36V DC, 2.5GbE and 4x COM

Small computers in machine cabinets and kiosks tend to be the hardest to reach when something goes wrong. The DFI EC700-ADN series is a family of slim fanless embedded PCs that tackles that with DFI Out-of-Band management on its Atom builds, so a site can be powered on, reset or have its BIOS updated over the network without an OS agent. Each EC700-ADN pairs that with four serial ports, 2.5GbE networking and three M.2 slots in a slim aluminum enclosure, designed for installations where space and airflow are both limited.

Every EC700-ADN shares one I/O layout. Networking is two Intel i226 2.5GbE ports, with TSN available by project, and one Intel i210 GbE port that carries DFI OOB where fitted. Serial is two RS-232/422/485 and two RS-232 ports on DB9, with DIO on COM4. LPDDR5 4800 memory is soldered down, TPM 2.0 is on board, and the M.2 M key slot takes NVMe or SATA storage, while M.2 B key with SIM and M.2 E key slots take optional 4G/5G and Wi-Fi modules. Intel UHD Graphics supports OpenCL 3.0 alongside the display outputs, and a programmable watchdog timer resets the system if the software stops responding. The systems run Windows 11 IoT Enterprise or Ubuntu 22.04 with UEFI boot, and DFI also offers a taller EC710 version by project.

Three builds make up the range. The EC700-ADN-x7425E carries the quad-core Intel Atom x7425E with 16 GB, DFI OOB, Intel TCC and three displays via HDMI, VGA and USB-C with DisplayPort alt mode. The EC700-ADN-x7211E uses the dual-core Atom x7211E at a 6 W TDP with 8 GB, keeping OOB, TCC and USB-C, for gateways and loggers that value low heat. The EC700-ADN-N97 is the Intel Processor N97 build with 4 GB, four USB-A ports and HDMI plus VGA, without OOB or USB-C.

In practice the EC700-ADN series suits machine controllers, line-side terminals, kiosks, signage and remote cabinets where serial devices and Ethernet meet. Power is 9 to 36 V DC on a DC jack, every build runs from -5 °C to 60 °C with 0.2 m/s airflow, and shock and vibration are tested to MIL-STD-810G. DFI lists CE, FCC, RoHS, UKCA, KC and BIS compliance, and each EC700-ADN mounts on a wall, a VESA plate or a DIN rail with optional kits.
