Neousys MezIO-D220-50 16-Channel Isolated Digital I/O MezIO Module with 8 DI and 8 DO

Not every machine needs 32 channels of digital I/O. A packaging station, a test rig or a small conveyor might only need a few interlocks, sensors and indicator outputs, and a module sized to match keeps the wiring simpler. The MezIO-D220-50 is the 16-channel module in the Neousys MezIO-D230/D220 series of isolated digital I/O MezIO modules.

It provides eight isolated digital inputs and eight isolated digital outputs. Inputs read logic high from 5 to 24 V DC and logic low from 0 to 1.5 V DC. Outputs operate up to 24 V DC and sink up to 500 mA per channel at 100% duty. Both sides work by polling, and all eight inputs can be wired for sink or source (NPN or PNP). Outputs are open-drain MOSFETs, normally open and at logic 0 at power-up, with a diode against spikes from inductive loads and long wiring. If the I/O list grows, the MezIO-D230-50 doubles the count to 16 inputs and 16 outputs with the same electrical specification.

We fit the MezIO-D220-50 inside the Neousys system on its high-speed board-to-board connector with three-point mezzanine mounting, then configure and test the I/O before the system ships. There is one MezIO interface per system. The MezIO-D220-50 fits the Nuvo-9000 series of industrial computers, including the LP versions, plus the Nuvo-9160GC and Nuvo-9166GC computers.

The channels leave the system on a 68-pin SCSI-II connector. One connector for every channel keeps the cabling at the computer to a single run, so field wiring lands on screw terminals in the cabinet rather than at the computer.
