NVIDIA Jetson TX2 NVIDIA Jetson TX2 Modules with 256-Core Pascal GPU and LPDDR4
The NVIDIA Jetson TX2 series is a family of system-on-modules with a 256-core Pascal GPU and a Denver 2 and Cortex-A57 CPU. It covers the TX2 8GB, TX2 4GB and industrial TX2i on a 400-pin connector, and the TX2 NX on a 260-pin SO-DIMM, with LPDDR4, eMMC, CSI-2 cameras and Gigabit Ethernet. The Jetson TX2 series suits drones, robotics, video analytics and transport deployments.
- 256-Core Pascal GPU: A Pascal GPU with CUDA support and a 1.4 Gpix/s ISP handles inference and camera pipelines on every TX2 module.
- Denver 2 and Cortex-A57 CPU: Two Denver 2 cores and four Cortex-A57 cores at up to 2.0 GHz in a heterogeneous CPU complex.
- 128-Bit LPDDR4 Memory: 4 GB or 8 GB of LPDDR4 with eMMC 5.1 on the module, and ECC on the industrial TX2i.
- 400-Pin or 260-Pin Connector: The TX2, TX2 4GB and TX2i share a 400-pin connector; the TX2 NX uses the 260-pin SO-DIMM.
- Lifecycle Through July 2027: NVIDIA lists the TX2i and TX2 NX through July 2027; the TX2 8GB and 4GB reached end of life in January 2025.
Jetson TX2 Description
TX2 products have been in the field for years, and the questions buyers ask now are which module their design takes and how long NVIDIA lists it. The NVIDIA Jetson TX2 series is the family of TX2 system-on-modules, split across two connectors and two lifecycle positions.
Every Jetson TX2 module carries a 256-core Pascal GPU with CUDA support and a heterogeneous CPU of two Denver 2 cores and four Cortex-A57 cores, with 128-bit LPDDR4 memory and eMMC 5.1 storage. The 400-pin modules expose up to six CSI-2 cameras, three USB 3.0 ports, five PCIe lanes, SATA and two CAN interfaces. The TX2 NX moves the same CPU and GPU onto a 260-pin SO-DIMM shared with the Jetson Nano and Xavier NX. The 400-pin modules decode up to two 2160p60 H.265 streams and encode one, with a 1.4 Gpix/s ISP for RAW camera input, so video analytics and recording run on the module rather than on a separate encoder. Gigabit Ethernet is common to all four modules.
The range has four modules. The Jetson TX2 Module carries 8 GB of LPDDR4, 32 GB of eMMC and on-module Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The Jetson TX2 4GB Module halves memory and storage and drops the wireless. NVIDIA lists both as end of life since January 2025. The Jetson TX2i Module is the industrial version, with 8 GB of ECC LPDDR4, a -40 to 85 °C rating and a 10-year operating lifetime. The Jetson TX2 NX Module offers 1.33 TFLOPS and 4 GB of LPDDR4 on the SO-DIMM. NVIDIA lists the TX2i and TX2 NX through July 2027.
Jetson TX2 modules typically sit in drones, robots, video analytics units, rail and defense systems, at module power from 7.5 W to 20 W depending on version and mode. NVIDIA states that an official end-of-life notice is sent at least eight months before the last shipment. The Orin family is the migration path: the Orin Nano and Orin NX are form-factor compatible with the TX2 NX, though not pin-compatible, while the 400-pin modules have no same-connector Orin, so moving them means a new carrier board. Our Jetson TX2 end-of-life and migration guide covers last-time-buy planning.
