Vecow SE-1004 Intel i210 4-Port Gigabit RJ45 PoE+ PCIe x1 Expansion Card

Vehicles and road-side systems often have only a short PCIe x1 slot free, yet still need four powered IP cameras. The SE-1004 is the PoE+ build in the Vecow SE-1000 series, a LAN switch card that puts four PoE+ ports on one x1 slot. We fit it to systems we build for in-vehicle recording and mobile NVR work.

The four Gigabit RJ45 ports run at 10/100/1000 Mbps and sit behind an all-in-one, fully integrated single-chip Gigabit switch. One Intel Ethernet Controller I210 links that switch to the host over PCI Express x1, so the four ports share one host link rather than each having its own controller. The design supports jumbo frames up to 9728 bytes and 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet.

Each port complies with IEEE 802.3at and supplies up to 25.5 W at 48 V DC. Vecow does not state a total PoE budget, so we size the 12 V feed against the camera loads. IEEE 1588 PTP, 802.1AS and the 802.1Qav traffic shaper support timed and prioritized streams across the switch. The SE-1014 is the LAN bypass build, and the PE-3004 gives four PoE+ ports an I350 controller on PCIe x4.

PoE power comes from one 4-pin 12 V connector. Vecow rates the SE-1004 industrial-grade, from -40 to 85 °C operating and storage, at 5 to 95% humidity, and lists CE and FCC. The board measures 168 x 121 mm with a full-height bracket. Vecow lists Windows 10, 8.1 and 7 and Linux support, and names intelligent surveillance, in-vehicle management, intelligent transport systems, mobile DVR/NVR and industrial Ethernet.
