Neousys MezIO-U4-50 4-Port USB 3.1 MezIO Module with 5 Gbps per Port

USB 3.1 cameras are a common choice for inspection and vision work, but several of them streaming at once can run short of bandwidth when they share a controller. Giving each camera its own link keeps frame rates predictable. The MezIO-U4-50 is part of the Neousys MezIO-U4 series of four-port USB 3.1 MezIO modules, in the version with a dedicated controller behind every port.

It adds four USB 3.1 Type-A ports, compatible with USB 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0 devices, each driven by its own Renesas uPD720202 host controller for 5 Gbps per port. Every port supplies up to 900 mA. That suits multi-camera vision, fast removable storage and data capture devices that run continuously. For the smaller POC computers that take the other version, the MezIO-U4-30 provides four USB 3.1 ports on two controllers, with 5 Gbps shared by each pair of ports.

We fit the MezIO-U4-50 inside the Neousys system on its high-speed board-to-board connector with three-point mezzanine mounting, then configure and test the ports before the system ships. There is one MezIO interface per system. The MezIO-U4-50 fits the Nuvo-9000, Nuvo-11000, Nuvo-11160GC, Nuvo-9160GC and Nuvo-9166GC series, and the compact POC-900.

With one MezIO interface per system, the choice is between USB, Ethernet, serial or I/O on that position. If your cameras are Gigabit Ethernet rather than USB, the MezIO-G4 gives four Gigabit ports on the same interface.
